The palmer move is your best option . Trent upside is not optimal as Liverpool fixtures turn . And best advice to you is stop letting an AI influence your decisions , I already know you where an elite manager before ai was a thing

The Palmer pick is very knee jerk considering that it was against a Brighton team who play a high line. The forest and Liverpool game will be against defenses who are far superior hence don't like the Palmer pick. Yet that just my opinion on it all

I had a similar experience in gw4 when I used my wildcard and got the worst result… it sucks but variance will always be a huge factor in individual gws. In reality, not much has changed though - you still have a good, well balanced team moving forward, with the exception of Bruno being suspended for one gw. I ended up not reacting on my bad result and rolled my free transfer, and the next gws have been significantly better. Keep it up!

Lesson: Don't be a follower, rather trust your own instincts. The content creators are ment to give input, but don't trust blindly. It was pretty clear that the content creator train (Eze/Fernandes) was doomed to fail (already from gameweek 3). They all had these two players (more or less). Good luck next gameweek guys!

@@FPLFran Maybe "instinct" is the wrong word, but I really do get kind of angry when seeing the pragmatic take of some managers. They trust stats and AI, and don't even question what they see. Because some FPL content creators said otherwise, and because stats said otherwise. They are so convinced stats will take them to the top, they actually stop using common sense. Being overly pragmatic is not my style. I rather go -12 to get the right team. I've had to calm down with the transfers though ;)

It's called knowing the players, reading into play etc. etc. etc. I could list 3 things about Eze, why I wouldn't pick him. I could also list 3 things about Fernandes and why I wouldn't pick him. Legit stuff in my book. But I won't go on a lecture. I would rather people keep picking these players. 1. Eze lost penalties to Mateta. 2. --------- I could go on.

@@wekings9073 Both players are literally the talisman of their respective team - both have set pieces, almost 90 mins a game and great data. Even if you say fuck the stats, all you gotta do is watch a palace game and you’d immediately spot that it’s Eze who’s taking the most shots and creating the most chances, same goes for Fernandes. They’re literally textbook examples of good assets to own. I don’t really see your point. Sometimes you can make a well informed decision and it can simply not work out because at the end of the day there’s a lot of luck involved

I’m coming round to thinking my approach this season should be choose the premiums I want and leave them all season - ignore fixtures (good picks/good teams) - and around them spend transfers on just the ‘edge’ guys based on fixture runs. They, after all, are the more unreliable assets who generally need favourable opposition to hit scores. Most of my problems this season have been trying to get smart hopping on and off Salah, Haaland, Saka, Palmer, Son, Watkins etc along with getting captaincy wrong, and simply dodging points in the process - I would be in a much healthier position if I’d done nothing a lot of the time! I’ve had all the right picks, just not necessarily in the right gameweeks. So I currently have Haaland, Palmer, Saka and Trent as premium/premium light assets. I think I lock them regardless of fixtures and spend transfers dealing only with injuries and mid-priced/budget/mid-table players who have nice runs. Just accept there are weeks Salah will haul, Son will haul, Watkins will haul, KDB/Foden etc and ‘on paper’ I won’t have the optimal captain choice for some GWs. But over the season, I think Haaland, Palmer and Saka are just the superior combination who will ultimately deliver the highest points total regardless (obviously Salah will be up there, but I don’t see a Haaland/Salah team as viable, so Haaland wins for me both in mins and returns)

This is sort of the issue isn't it - Trent was one of my 'premiums' but it's failed spectacularly because of the 'premium' I went with. As usual all sorts of team structures and approaches work. The nomium structure is exclusively premiums and nice things can happen like this last GW. As long as you stick to the general idea of picking good picks good things will happen. Nothing wrong with what you've said though!

Certainly a fan of the using the transfer to get Bruno out of your mind and maybe revisit him if we hit form at any point this season with ETH. I'm personally waiting on Palmer until GW12, while I don't love the idea of spending another midfield transfer before waiting on the swing that might just be your best option. If you think about it, that midfield spot is your only midfield differential because Saka Mbeumo Rogers are so highly owned now, so Palmer effectively replaces that Eze/Bowen/Semenyo spot, which is actually a really strong differential. Class is permanent Fran. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I regret not starting the season with Palmer. He is probably the best FPL asset. Lewis, TAA and Diaz are an issue, Rogers may be injured? Have you gone early on the Palmer/ Davis moves? I'm 50:50 this week to roll or, do TAA to Davis/ 4.5 Def and Diaz to Palmer? Will wait for Champs Lge news I think. Really disappointed atm.

I don't mind the Bowen move. It saves a -4 and the best entry point for Palmer is GW12 as you mentioned. Good fixtures long term also for Bowen (see GW14 onwards). However I'm a bit doubtful about Trent's attacking output for his price so far and Palmer is somewhat fixture proof, plus, who doesn't want to own Palmer. You still have a good team at the end of the day and Palmer isn't going to score 4 every week while others blank and give half the playing field a rank boost. What a player he is though, that pass to Jackson was unbelievable.

i have palmer and yes the upcoming fixture looks bad. But he is someone on penalties and freekicks and confirm minute and i cant see any other midfielder who can generate return like his potential to generate so better u bring him in after the roll (-4 after a worst start will hurt much more)

Hey Fran. Despite one of my worst wildcards made I still believe you're one of the best analysts of FPL. I shot myself in the foot by taking Rashford....I already made a transfered for Martinelli instead of Sancho. I don't think Palmer is that good. 4 goals are amazing but in the longrun Chelsea are stillin the process of rebuilding plus their fiscal headaches. I did go opposite and chose Evanilson as my 3ed striker instead of Semenyo,for now it paid of,8th week I'll transfer for Delap or Ndyiaye (fixtures and I really like their movement off the ball...old footballer's tip)Try Carvalho instead of Fernandes and know nothing's lost.All the best!👍✌️

So many people Wildcarded Palmer out for Diaz this week cause Diaz was doing really really well for a cheaper price and Palmer just wasn't justifying his price tag as a premium asset. I don't think that was a good play moving forward as Liverpool's fixtures are now about to turn, however I also think that Palmer is not a good option moving forward as his fixtures start to turn aswell. Happy I got the 25 points from Palmer this week, you had a really tough gameweek this week if you didn't have him as Haaland and Saka didn't do as well. I've ended up selling Palmer this week as the fixtures get a bit tricky these next couple of weeks and plan to buy him back a little bit later on in the season maybe around GW14 when Chelsea play Southampton.

Bruno is a good choice, it's just circumstances in games turned out with what you have, it's all good. 👍😄 Keep in mind I heard Palmer and 4 other Chelsea seniors will not play in any conference matches for workload. This means Cole will be fresh when playing Prem games.

I was this close to going for McNeil over Diaz. Two goals is crazy for a guy with 0.05 goal threat per 90, Diaz has it all to do now, McNeil owners have already won, any assists for him over the next 5 game weeks is just a bonus

Great content as per usual. I’ve got a dilemma. Do I stick with Eze or not? I’ve got 2 FT. These are the moves im lining up: Eze and TAA to Gabriel and Madison. I’ve got Robbo FYI. My second option is to Sell Robbo and buy Saliba and bench Eze against Liverpool this does depend on if J. Pedro is fit to play. So basically TAA, Saliba and Eze or Robbo, Gabriel and Madison.

I think going big at the back and having a strong bench is not the way to play this season given the amount of proven premium fpl assets we have available to choose from. Thats where the template went wrong. Its not the players, its the price points that many content creators got wrong.

I'd say no - think a lot of the outgoing players have good games (not as great). But then Palmer and Saka have some weaker games in the short term. Could just consider Son/Foden too

Benched McNeil's 15 pointer in favour of Eze's 2 points ... On the bright side I did bring in solanke and havertz just a minute before deadline. Ignore the comments. Your past season finishes are literally proof that over the course of a season, data based decision making is the way to go. Honestly some people have a couple good weeks and they get all in their head and start to believe that their "eye test" is more reliable then stats 😂.

My wildcard squeezed Haaland, Saka, Palmer, Trent, Gabriel, Raya and Mbuemo all in but my bench is terrible (Dibling, Greaves, Harwood-Bellis and Fabianksi). It’s paid off this week but I expect I will have to downgrade Trent in the near future to strengthen elsewhere.

Everybody playing this game knows how cruel it can sometimes be. I think try and get Palmer and Davis now. I think might have a bigger up side. But honestly, anything a person does can backfire. Do you think I would go wrong taking a punt on Delap for Joao Pedro? I have Haaland and Wood, not enough money to go for Watkins as I have Saka, Palmer etc.

probably not because the fix after for Saka are a bit average, but if it's a luxury move you can pull off and it gets you upgrades why not

I'm tempted to go from Salah to Palmer but Forrest seems like a better defence and don't play a high line like Brighton as I feel this was a factor in Chelseas great performance.

So, I watched your videos leading up to the wildcard. And I totally agreed with your back line of 2 Man City and a Gabriel and no Trent. I just don’t know why you changed on the day. I think you left it to late and it becomes to much of a gamble you left your team untill 10:55 with only 5 players in. Palmer was the best asset last year and he still proved this year he has hauls in him. Saka is rubbish. He’s a good asset with others but I think he’s a bit expensive to be honest. My team is Pickford. Gvardiol Gabriel Lewis mykolenko Semenyo mbueno Saka palmer Roger’s Halaand Havertz My transfers are around Havertz and Saka. I can’t get rid of the rest of them. I’m considering Eze for Saka and bank the money. Or Haverts to vardy Then possibly salah for Saka Or upgrade back to Trent.

I dont know why but i get the feeling this move for palmer is a bit reactionary as he has just scored 4 which he wont do every week. His next 5 are just of a mix bag like Salah/Trents hence dont see an upside to taking a hit to bring him in. Thats just my take tho.

Getting Palmer in for a hit looks the best move here, get him in and stick for the foreseeable. That being said, Forrest and Liverpool two of the best defences in the league in the next two, my gut says he does not score in either of those games

I remember a video of yours when you said to only correct a decision if there was evidence that showed your initial reasoning was false - eg a player starting in a different position than anticipated. Some of this video sounds like you are thinking differently about Palmer, just because he hauled last GW - the assessment of his upcoming points potential shouldn't change based on that

I don't really agree to this - I think I made the move to Palmer who was already someone I was structurally comfortable with having in a team pre my final WC6 - so moving into him because I had what was supposedly a dead spot in Bruno made sense to me as I can see myself holding Palmer in this new 2x cheap midfielder structure I have set up for myself. I would have never made a move without the Bruno 'suspension', but given it's over it obviously looks a wrose move. But I hope that makes sense!
