I wanted to railfan Kipling GO station to see if I could get any good trains and lash-ups for the weekend. So I went there and I was really surprised by the trains I saw on that day. The weather was ok, there was no snow on the ground until later on in the evening/night. The temperature was at least -10 with the wind chill though. All in all it was a great day to go.
1. CP 243 led by SOO 6027 and CP 8827 in elephant style lead a westbound Autorack train from Toronto to Chicago switching from the south track to the north track.
2. CP 440 led by CP 5939, CP 5978, CP 9001, and CP 5990 lead an eastbound Autorack/mixed freight train from Windsor to Toronto. A great lash-up on CP 440 with all GMD power.
3. CP 255 led by CP 9665 and CP 8798 lead a long eastbound mixed freight train from Binghamton to Toronto.
4. FPON! CP 240 led by CP 6003 and NS 7512 are ordered to set off the Intermodal cars for Obico Yard track 4. They split their train after the last Intermodal car just before the Obico lead track and clear the south track switch into the yard. CP 240 then backs the train into Obico at restricting speed until all the Intermodal cars are inside Obico Yard on track 4. Once that was done, the conductor gets the permission from the RTC to push the button to return to their train. Once they re-connect their train, it is now a mixed freight train and they are on their way to continue eastbound to Toronto Yard. This was an amazing rare catch and it was really awesome to see! Thanks goes to Jay (crazeejay2006) and Mike (trainboi21) for the heads up.
5. CP 132 led by CP 5994, CP 5959, and CP 5961 lead the eastbound Expressway train from Milton Yard to Montreal. Another great lash-up on CP 132 with all GMD power.
6. CP 8211 and StL&H 8245 are light power out of Obico Yard.
and
7. FPON! CP 242 led by SOO 6038 and CSXT 7905 lead a short eastbound mixed freight train from Chicago to Toronto. Thanks goes to Jay (crazeejay2006) and Mike (trainboi21) for the heads up.
It was very very awesome to see the NS GE ES40DC on CP 240 and the CSX GE C40-8W on 242 and they came through Etobicoke/Toronto to give back horsepower to CP or something like that. It was also awesome to see the SOO Line GMD SD60 on CP 243 and the 4 CP Rail GMD SD40-2's on CP 440 and the 3 CP Rail GMD SD40-2's on CP 132 These are probably the best catches that I could ever and I mean ever get at Kipling!
Enjoy! :D
