I apologize, I was rushing with completing this video that I forgot to mention an important detail - GPU usage! The iPhone 15 Pro Max only used 75.3% while the Galaxy S23 Ultra used 86% of GPU despite having much lower in-game resolution! 😳 I posted proof/screenshots of GPU results in my community section page.

This doesn't show the whole picture s23 ultra gpu clock were around 300 MHz it can go upto 680 MHz , so it is 90 percent when GPU is at 300mhz so it less than half of GPU performance with s23 ultra

Not even considering the fact that iphone 15 is a year newer i wouldn't call a 3 fps difference a "smash" . Tbh Samsung performed very well considering ios is an os optimized for just a few phones whereas android has to work on hundreds on devices. Again considering apple buys the screen and i think the nand drives and rams from samsung, gets their chips manufactured by TSMC, buys their camera lenses from Sony and gets all of these assembled by Foxconn i wouldn't say apple products are something extraordinary.

Well for just a few drops, I'll still pick S23 ultra instead of super expensive Iphone 15 pro max. Also 15 pro max is lock in a single eco system while android can customize depending on your taste

Btw, did you knew that even when someone else makes the product is apple who pretty much designs everything so that the provider can work? Yep, the fact that is from another manufacturer doesn’t mean its not designed by apple, and guess what, if it is designed by apple and the manufacturer only applies the fact of making it then thats the reason why apple is impressive, they pretty much STILL design all of their pieces, just like most companies manufacture their devices on china because of the cheaper prices lol, its not uncommon, the difference is that unlike other companies that choose whatever processor for qualcomn or mediatek and whatever speaker from dolby atmos for iphone they design every piece of their phones so they still have the upper hand lmao

"What phones do you want me to test next?" How would you feel about the Sony Xperia 1 Mark V? I've been doing some research after seeing that they've finally gotten a discount to a slightly more reasonable price and they seem to be a whole lot better than I thought they were. One of the big upgrades this year has been a massive improvement in passive cooling. The vapor chamber is something like 60% bigger, which should give the 8G2 a fighting chance. It's very much an enthusiasts' phone as it has a headphone jack powered by a high performance amp, dual front facing speakers, expandable memory, 2K resolution screen with no blemishes, and supports all US carriers. For your camera tests, the Sony isn't likely to win any sort of point and shoot showdown; but, their Sony Alpha inspired Pro Mode gives you tons of options that the other guys don't. Supposedly people who know what they're doing, I'm probably not one of them, are able to get incredible images out of an Xperia. One other benefit is that Sony usually doesn't release their next generation until a few months after everyone else. That means your videos would stay fresh for longer. Of course; 8G3 phones are going to be debuting in the US pretty soon, so I can see why dropping a $1000 on an 8G2 anything might not be the best financial decision. But, it might be a fun decision. I don't know. This was an excellent video, as always. I'm impressed by how well the Samsung, and by extension the 8G2, is aging. Is it as performant as the newest iPhone? Of course not; but, the fact that it gets as close as it does is commendable.

Additionally, a Korean KZbinr revealed that in the Genshin Impact test, S24 Exynos shows inferior rendering quality compared to Ultra Snapgen 3. Even though the display resolution setting was same in game. It is said that there is a difference when you capture the screen and enlarge it, and it appears in Genshin Impact and a few games, However, this phenomenon was not found in Starrail. Your real-time gaming frame tests have always shown the highest reliability, so we're looking forward to it again this time.

@@wheelyflac This whole time I thought he was running the 15 Pro Max "as is", I didn't know he was using a VPN/gear up boost. I'm curious how much of a difference that makes. In so many other gaming/heavy load tests I've seen, the 15 Pro Max heats up more and the screens dims, but it never does that in his videos (at least all of the ones I've seen).

@phothewin6019 heah I've seen the same too, if it is to not use default settings then why not enable bypass charging on the Samsung so when you connect the phone to charger , the power goes to everything else except the battery so the battery doesn't charge or discharge , so WAY less heat, so WAY less throttling , so higher fps, or put 4 ice cubes on the back of the phone and then play the game with controller on a bigger screen and the phone will be so cool that there will be no throttling at all it may run like stable super straight 60fps lol

can test you with redmagic 8 pro , maybe s23 ultra can render at high resolution than iPhone because it was cooler than iPhone and 8gen 2 gpu is better so it can use gpu headroom ,this game is cpu bound maybe redmagic can perform best when there is no limit , my best bet is MediaTek Dimensity 9300 because it is fastest soc for best performance

The iphone will overheat and dim the display like crazy . And the iphone display is much less sharp and vibrant ... if its not for the constant dimming and the dull display, i would say iphone

There was no dimming. Plus it's clear as day that iPhone has sharper and more detailed graphics. Dame said iPhone is 990p res and s23u is 600p. Also iPhone has no dropped frames which better for competition.

The fps average is actually not as important as 1% lows. 1% lows equate to game stability and can be devastating if dropping below 30 fps even for a mere second. That mere second of significant frame drops can cost you a match if you're in a gunfight. 1% lows should be at minimum 40-50s fps for competitive gaming and 30s is okay for single player games.
