That’s the whole appeal to flying RC planes. Less cost and risk but retain most of the fun of flying full scale, if not more so. Since we get to do aerobatics, formation and dogfights, which most GA pilots don’t get to do.

little History Lesson from me: First-Person-Vision (FPV) -Flight was done in the 90 too but miniature Cameras and Videotransmitters were hella expensive back then, ranging in about 2k$ for a Set. with the advent of cheap and tiny wireless Video surveillance Cameras, Keychain-cameras etc in the mid 2000 people started to hack these devices and put them on RC Planes. It was an incredible fun time until somewhere 2012 when all these Drones ruined it. But 2011 was when it all Peaked with Trappy recording and uploading his incredible Stunts and long distance or high altitude Records done by others.
@marielizysurourcq2 жыл бұрын
FPV boomed with small drones around 2011, because frames were in carbon and so strong (still have mine of 2013 bought from a Canadian guy on RCgroups). You just had to buy lots of props since they were brittle as hell lol. Chinese competion for the real hype did the rest of lowering mass and volume of components.

Beautiful landing. Amazing. More please! Notes: Wake turbulence is stronger from low-aspect ratio wing aircraft, such as that Raptor. The short wingspan allows more air to join the tip vortices at high AOA. Wake turbulence is strongest at low speed, when induced drag is highest. Go faster (if safe) for less effect. Weight affects it too, although I assume he isn't carrying excess weight for no reason.
@motionsic2 жыл бұрын
Great insight on wake turbulence and tip vortices on interplay between aspect ratio, speed, AOA, and induced drag. So basically this flight was conducted with almost the worst conditions. I will have try this again with higher speeds for comparison. I suppose with high aspect wings, low wing loading on bipes, and most likely engine going wide open, WW 1 planes in dogfight Would be at the opposite end of the spectrum for effect of wake turbulence. So the adage should hold true! Thank you for the great lesson! I really appreciate it🙏😁. Now I need to try and find a WWI model.

Another awesome video, I am totally buying your gimble and head tracker. What do you use for your on plane audio? Do you have any setup videos for your full build on the viper. I am building one! Thanks!

Audio is from onboard recording. There’s hack to get real time audio transmission from WTF OS, too. I am working on tutorial video of the build. But it’s quite intuitive for people that already fly RC planes, pretty much plug and play. HT works with RC transmitter trainer function like this: facebook.com/groups/2211542688961285/permalink/5947573345358182/?mibextid=W9rl1R Then simply plug in the gimbal servos to two channels on RC receiver. That’s it!

That might be true for war, but dogfighting for fun is just getting started😉

Would be cool if you install airsoft gun inners and actually shoot BBs. Could be actual dog fight:) might damage the airplanes a bit, but not take them out of action.

Live the video as Ive always wanted an RC Jet, and I cant believe you made an Ace Combat 7 refrence in the video timestamps, good work mate.

wow that was so real, thanks guys, used to fly RC gliders many years ago, we had nothing like this, don't remember seeing jet engines either, except those little one's i think they were called Jetex but i could be wrong, this was well over 30 plus years ago, i am 78 now lol. good video, great aircraft...

Glad you enjoyed it. These were electric ducted fan jets with LED after burner lights. Though real turbine jets are available now at 10X the cost. We love doing dogfights: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4aqmYOEaL2crrc

some of this "wake turbulences" were partially made from the wash jet but most of those were made from the wing tip vortices most likely

The actually physical HUD is 1000x cooler than any graphic you could overlay on the FPV image

Very close to it. Goggle resolution is 720P 120fps, video resolution is 1080P 60fps.

It would be cool also if you had real time GPS (or similar) data where you can see both of your flight paths :D

See, that's why I don't like battery powdered anything. I mean, just that short flight and already he's practically at a dead battery. It's better to go nitro. But anyways, it was a very nice video. I really enjoyed it a lot And I like Fpv radio controlled anything. In fact, I actually kind of want to get into it. And I like the head tracking that you have on the camera. It's. something that I think I would like to get into someday.. The only thing is that I would do differently is that I think I would go nitro that way I can refuel and keep on flying for longer times and possibly even greater distances.

Good observation! Hopefully battery tech would catchup and double flight times in the years to come. Nitro packs a lot more energy for sure. But engine vibration is a killer on smooth FPV experience. Need much better vibration isolation to make the visual experience pleasant🙂
