Good job! I like your passenger. 😂 The T-28 Trojan is a great platform to start with. My two FPV planes are both T-28 Trojans. Looking forward to seeing what else you do with FPV. Subscribed!

Thank you. I keep buying more and more T-28s in different paint schemes. I think I have a problem...
@ericwright7570Ай бұрын
That's amazing to do all of that on a maiden. I have that plane and the Walksnail FPV stuff on a small foam wing. Maybe I should use the Trojan.
@StumpLakeRC29 күн бұрын
This 1100mm T-28 has been pretty good for me, although the wind does knock it around some. I imagine one of the larger Trojans would be great for FPV.

That's cool, I'm sure you'll enjoy it when you do, I have enjoyed mine. The T-28 has been pretty easy to land. Took it out for a couple of good flights and a crash today. I'd like to see the footage when you take yours up.

My main problem with fpv planes use to be the shakiness of the video so this is really sweet. Can you pause the head tracking and just have the stabilization?
@StumpLakeRCАй бұрын
Yep, you can turn off head tracking while retaining stabilization. You can also adjust the follow settings for stabilization, which makes a pretty big difference.

Very cool. Do you find the gimbal gives an improvement of the experience? I use a cheap, two servo pan/tilt and love it. It looks like your gimbal has gyro stabilising, making it much smoother overall. Would you say it’s a must do upgrade? How does it feel in a roll or loop?
@tonyyimbo3 ай бұрын
I do the same and I’m curious how to get one going for non walksnail products
@StumpLakeRC3 ай бұрын
I ran this camera without head tracking on a couple of other planes for a flight or two and it was sort of fun, but this gimbal really makes FPV fun on these planes. Since I'm using all matching gear (CADDX), setup was easy. The main thing is to make sure the goggles and camera are updated to the same firmware. With the Goggles L, moonlight kit and GM3 gimbal combination I no longer need to use the trainer function on my TX16s and 2 receiver channels to get head tracking working. It's all internal to the system, so less wires dangling, less complication and weight inside the plane, more fun. I didn't run the footage through gyroflow either btw, it's pretty raw.

Head tracking on the camera and flying a fixed Wing wow! I would have to have the plane on stabilized mode or I would vomit!
@larry97293 ай бұрын
Great job! I too just bought the Goggles L and the GM3 for the Freewing A-10 80mm. It's my first try with digital but have flown the FMS Bae hawk using analog with pan and tilt a few years back, and had a blast taking off and landing. Hooked up these goggles and the picture is night and day from analog. It's like when I had to hold the rabbit ears on the tv for the perfect picture (analog) for my pops to watching 4K. Should have everything up and running by next weekend! One thing I think might be a problem is the roll. Up and down is fine, I just don't like the roll too much. Me being a novice at the digital stuff, do you know if you can turn off the roll on the gimbal? Keep on flying!
@StumpLakeRC3 ай бұрын
Thank you. I'd like to see your A-10 videos, once your system is up and running. I hope to get my hands on an A-10 in the future too! I'm very new to this setup as well so I don't have things set up optimally. I'd check the camera settings available through the goggles L menu, maybe roll can be deactivated there.

So are you flying this from FPV from the back seat? I fly more up front and it seems I was in the front seat.
@StumpLakeRCАй бұрын
The camera was set up between the two seats, slightly biased toward the front, but I've since relocated the camera closer to the front seat position and lowered it some, for a more scale view.
@FreeEditsForYouАй бұрын
@@StumpLakeRC ahh okay. Do you like the viiew more up front? I think you get a better view below you, since when you look left and right you can see and not be fully blocked by wings.
@StumpLakeRC29 күн бұрын
Yes, I do like having a more open view in flight. The camera system also just sort of fits well in that location.
@redwineisfine3 ай бұрын
Is that a battery voltage reader or air speed gps ground speed?
@StumpLakeRC3 ай бұрын
It's a battery voltage alarm, mounted so I can check the voltage between flights without removing the canopy. I'm thinking about trying a screen from FPVtoys.net or OSD in the goggles once I get an iNav based setup going. I plan to get barometric altitude and airspeed working along with that.

@StumpLakeRC I have ran a badass gimbal on a few of my planes.. Running dji, almost regret it.. however I'm getting my Carbon-Z T-28 prepped for a good 11 minutes or so worth of long range flights.. keep sharing videos

Can you see the number of voltage alarms on your goggles? I can't see it in the video. It's a great idea if you see it.
@StumpLakeRC2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately it doesn't show on camera, or in the goggles. But it is easier to hear the alarm with it mounted there.
@정지운-z4j2 ай бұрын
@@StumpLakeRC I have an additional question. I can't hear the sound in my dji goggles, are you equipped with microphones in the fuselage and goggles' earphones? That would be amazing.
@StumpLakeRC29 күн бұрын
I'm still figuring out how to efficiently get onboard sound without adding too much more weight. I would prefer not to get a lot of wind noise in the process as well.
