So far it's held up a lot better than I expected it to. Being primarily hardware design for flight I kind of expected it to die on the first crash or the first time it ate some sand but the thing's a tank so far.

We just need a laser printer and a 3d printer… this needs to be in a rtr kit for it to actually become the future

@@a36538 Well really just the 3D printer and honestly you don't even need that. You could make amount for most applications out of a block of wood with basic hand tools. RTR solutions would be really cool though.

Yeah I can't guarantee it would survive all bashing but I'm honestly very surprised it held up to what I put it through. I was kind of expecting to either grind to a halt after the first taste of sand or break on the first big crash but it didn't do either one of those things. I'm impressed!

Add GPS location and you're away, would be awesome in a trail truck. This line of sight driving will make heading where you want to go so much easier, the sounds add another dimension too, and you get fantastic footage, win win win. I don't have an HD vtx or goggles but I have used an analog set on a Tpyhon Grom and it was amazing. Mounted the camera where the wing is screwed on and it was almost like a racing game. Fairly cheap to get into, 100 dollar goggles and the all in one camera/vtx/antenna combo for around 30. Just need a battery for it or hook right up to the grom battery, not too hard to do. I have had a dream for a long time to take my racing wheel setup and connect with a transmitter to control an RC car, with one of these head tracking cameras in the driver's seat. Even better if it's a full cockpit with linked steering wheel that matches the rotation of the gaming wheel. Take it a step further for another variation and dress the cars up as Mario kart, throw in mixed reality power ups and drone lakitu's to reset people on the track. If only Mario home circuit had been a collaboration with a hobby grade company, id imagine a 1/24-1/18 small scale would be amazing and made it also usable at most rc tracks instantly turning them into Mario kart raceways and would bring kids into the hobby like crazy and the only infrastructure they would probably need would be good local WiFi access points for all the video feeds but that would be cheap compared to most even budget cars lol

I don't blame you. This is genuinely a completely new experience.

Awesome job! 300$ for everything not to bad..
@DoRC3 күн бұрын
Yeah depending on where you order it from and which VTX you decide to get the price will vary a bit but it's not terribly expensive.

The video quality is sufficient just need to know the delay of video transmition and the range. Need to know!
@DoRC3 күн бұрын
This is the walk snail system and is originally designed for FPV flight so both range and latency are good. You're looking at around 30 to 50 milliseconds of latency and range will be highly dependent on terrain and which VTX you're using but it likely will be farther than you'll be comfortable walking to go get it if you have a problem.

For sure anything with the modeled cockpit like that would be sweet.

Is it dust and dirt proof?

Not officially though at least with mine it seems to handle fine sand and debris pretty well. Can't guarantee how it will last long term though.

How about a link to this awesome stuff
@DoRC3 күн бұрын
I don't normally do links cuz they're a pain to keep up with and I don't want people to think I'm trying to sell them something but you can get all the info for them on the caddix website and then places like get FPV have everything you need.
@SteveSoper19792 күн бұрын
the only time i've ever seen a surface FPV that was okay was one where the person had to do a lot of editing & cropping of the edge of the screen in post. The gimble really seems to have solved all that. Not to mention you can look around.
@DoRC2 күн бұрын
Yup. What you saw in the video was completely unedited other than trimming for time.

It would be nice to ditch the goggles and go for a small display. The RadioLink 6 channel transmitter has a 600meter/ 1900+ feet of range. This is new to you and a lot of other guys, but vehicle FPVing has been around for quite a while. Have you gotten a real range test done? The RadioLink also has head tracking capabilities. WHY didn't you link to what you used? You link to the gimbal, but everything else is a guess. Please give more info so this isn't just a teaser video.
@DoRC2 күн бұрын
I'm actually pretty familiar with FPV. If you go back several years on my channel you'll see it started out with FPV quads. There are definitely some great options for transmitter range though you might find that with a surface vehicle your video range could end up being your limiting factor depending on terrain. I mention everything at the end of the video that I used. There are several different VTXs you could use with that gimbal so I didn't want to give a specific one there. Everything's available on the usual suspects like get FPV.

Could you post a list of parts and where you got them?
@toolbaggers3 күн бұрын
Flier have found out long ago that you do not want a plastic canopy (or windshield) obstructing the camera's view. Blazer bad, Lasernut good.
@DoRC3 күн бұрын
Yeah it's actually not too bad in the crawler but obviously an unobstructed view is better

Can you please make a video tutorial how make that FFV thing. I've been thinking of doing it 2yr ago to my RC trucks, but it never happened. I don't know anything about FPV and what to get .
@DoRC3 күн бұрын
Caddx has a fairly decent tutorial on the technical aspects of the install. If you look up GM3 RC car you'll probably be able to find it

Well if you need to borrow a couple bucks so you can pay attention to my videos I'm happy to help :-)
@MikeKirchner-zf7zm3 күн бұрын
Last year I had the cash to be able to do this, bought a few rc cars, first ones in probably 30 years, wow have things changed, but I didn't have a clue where to start with fpv systems, and neither did the local hobby shop.....and before I could figure it out, had to use the money for, more necessary things, and probably won't have the funds to afford it again.....kinda regret even buying the rc cars now..... setting them up with fpv systems was really the whole reason I got them in the first place....but thanks anyway 😂
@DoRC3 күн бұрын
@@MikeKirchner-zf7zm well if you still have the cars maybe consider selling a couple of them and just setting up FPV on one of them?

"Now that is gonna come at a price... does not come cheap..." and then he intentionally omits the price. Hey, do they insist that you NOT mention the price, or is that your choice?
@DoRC3 күн бұрын
It's my choice. Prices change so much and depending on where you buy this stuff from even the current price can vary pretty wildly and that's just in the United States. That doesn't even take into account other countries or the fact that the gimbal is compatible with three different VTX camera combos so to be honest giving a specific price is kind of a waste of time because whatever I say very likely won't be true for you.

I have the goggle module that converts my goggle to walksnail it doesn’t have the gyro’s built in for head tracking I’d have too get those box goggles
@DoRC3 күн бұрын
Yeah as far as I know for the actual head tracking you need the goggles l
@Iron_Condorr2 күн бұрын
This is awesome, maybe get a set of "tear off" protectors for the lens?
@DoRC2 күн бұрын
Some sort of lens protector would probably be a good idea though the lenses are technically replaceable.
@Iron_Condorr2 күн бұрын
@@DoRC oh, ok. Im new to the FPV tech.

Yeah the lenses themselves are generally pretty durable. A windshield might not be a bad idea though

I bought the exact K5 to do FPV testing! I can’t believe I ran into this video. I’ve had a real bad time researching this. Love the video. But looking up these parts show some very confusing results. At a minimum of $500 I’d like to make sure I’m not buying multiple cameras accidentally. And the goggles options for connecting isn’t clear at all…
@DoRC2 күн бұрын
Yeah unfortunately their information isn't the clearest. The GM gimbals are compatible with any of the full-sized V2 VTX camera systems from what I understand. At the moment I believe The gimbal is only compatible with the goggles l and you need to make sure everything is on the latest firmware in order for it to all work together. If you have any specific questions let me know!
