You don't mention that you really need a 1"AF socket as well to be able to re-tighten to the correct torque.

It doesn't look like it. I zoomed in and it looks like the pin is splined, so I imagine it's pressed into the lockring tool.

The pin is currently removable. This was a running change implemented a couple years ago.

Will this work on a 15mm axle? I put my XTR rotors on last night and my cassette tool worked on the rear axle just fine. But it wont fit over the end cap on my front wheel which has a Torch 15x110 thru axle hub.

You are going to need an externally notched lock ring. Front 15mm thru axles do not leave enough room for a tool fitting and require you to use an externally notched ring. DT swiss and shimano both have aftermarket options.

Those are typically drivel by an external bottom bracket wrench like the BBT-69.2

The FR-5.2GT can be turned with any ratchet and 1" socket.
