This video brought tears to my eyes. I don't know if I've ever been so inspired and convicted about something at the same time. Praise Jesus that there are men like Fr. Capodanno. Fr. Vincent Capodanno-- Pray for us.

My great grandfather, Staff Sergeant Tony Stovall, was there, he rode that helicopter that carried Father Capodanno when he was killed, My grandfather said he was crying, and ever since Father Capodanno, he has went to Church doing missions for them ever since then. I love my great grandfather, and i love Father Capodanno. Pray for us up there.

that’s beautiful. Father Capodanno was my great grandfather’s cousin. I’ve always heard stories about him and have always looked up to him as one of my heroes, and it is nothing more than a great honor to be related to that amazing man.

We all have lost relatives and friends to the Vietnamese war. My cousin was drafted into the army. He celebrated his 21st birthday in Hawaii during a layover on his way to Nam. While in country on his first patrol he stepped on a land mine and was killed. I can only hope he had the chance to meet priest like Fr Capodanno. My God always be with our service members, our police and firefighters.

Ryan Zacher My disabled son's father served as a Marine in Vietnam also in 1968-1969 drafted at 18. It was rough in battle. We had many years together. He died in 1985. R.I.P. My two Mosley cousins who were brothers were also Marines in Vietnam. One brother died in battle and his brother escorted him home for proper burial then returned to fight in Vietnam. This brings tears to my eyes too. I hope you are doing well, Ryan. Thank you and God Bless you.

My command, Comm Co 5th comm Bn, was heavily Catholic but our Bn Chaplin was Mormon. So Father Vince did the Sacraments for us and my Marines loved him. He and I were to rotate back to CONUS in July 67 but he extended 6 months so he could be with his Marines over the coming Holiday season. It was a sad day when I heard the bad news but in reflection his death was a worthy end to his temporal life. I am now one of the many who asks for his intercession in prayer that in some small way we can emulate his life and sacrifice.

Well, I appreciate your thoughts, My brother, a WO-1 with 1st air Cav, finished up '66 -year; we conferred in Jan '67 in Wash DC; to then, I did not realize how rough was the war; after 50 years both Jim's and your recall is a God-send to bring us all back to basics of life

Oh my gosh! I am crying! Fr. Capodonno, pray for us! Tell my Dad HELLO & I love him, and sorry for the times I had no patience for his pain! He died a 100% disabled vet of the Korean war twice. He died at the age of 79---11 years ago , a Marine to the end, never complaining about his illnesses. Oh Holy Mother of Jesus, pray that Fr. Capodonno say hi to Dad---may the souls of all the faithfully departed through God's mercy rest in peace

Many young men were drafted and chose to be Marines in Vietnam. They needed a man who truly cared as a Chaplain on the battlefield. He cared about his Marines so much and was hit by more than 20 bullets unarmed and outnumbered staying with his Marines dying while he covered the Medic trying to protect him too.

My husband fought in the Korean War and the Winters were brutal! My brother fought in the Vietnam War and was sent home right before Da Nang fell, and my Dad fought in World War Two. So where does it all end? We are always hearing about the so called "war to end all wars" but that does not seem plausible. So very sad!
