The 4th Ballade is probably Chopin’s most complex and harmonically and structurally adventurous piece. Everyone plays it too quickly, and the meanings get lost after the lyrical and comparatively straightforward first third. I’ve listened to dozens of performances over the course of the past forty years, and this is the most perfect there is, in my opinion. Aleksandra understands Chopin. This is how I want to play the 4th Ballade, if I ever get to it.

Не понравилась педаль в целом и акценты в паре моментов. Сухо,недостаточно экспрессии.В аппликатуре порядок.Удачи и терпения желаю.

I have heard this ballade played hundreds of times by many great pianists and for me this really captures Chopin's spirit better than any other recording I have heard! Magical understanding, fabulous rubato, dynamics, voicing and touch!

Interesting rendition of the piece. I have some problem with her use of the pedal. The piece feels a bit dry and disconnected at times, when it should be flowing more, and feel fuller. Part of that also has to do with her pacing. Also, at 6:52, she plays it way too slowly. That part should be faster, almost like the rapid swirling of a leaf scooped up in a whirlwind and then gradually and slowly coming to rest(As my teacher used to describe it to me). The final part she didn't attack enough for me. Not sure if she lacks the physical strength in her fingers, but either way, she should be more dominating. Finally, she needs to tone down on her hand movements to her head(She does this at times). It's rather distracting during a live performance. Over all, not bad. She has the technical aspects sorted, for the most part, but she's not feeling(understanding) the piece yet.

Horowitz style of Chopin Ballade No 4, rare pianist playing it this way nowadays.

I think Horowitz plays it much differently than she does. This one has its perks, but for me nothing tops Horowitz’ interpretation of this ballade.

I am sorry but musically she doesn't have this piece yet. The continuity and pacing of Chopin's architecture is yet to appear.

EIther the audio recording or the piano, not sure which, is not good. Though judging by the fact that it's a Steinway, I'd say it's the audio.

This is my favorite interpretation on KZbin of this gem of a ballade. Aleksandra Mikulska and Alice Sara Ott are the pianist I like most. Kind regards from Mexico.
