Do you remember me,Traum? I asked you to play ballade no.4 in last year... You accepted my requirements, and you said that it would be played after a month... Unfortunately, after a month passed, nothing happened. So I thought you might forget it. However, I'm not actually frustrated about it, because I thought that you are busy for playing other songs which can make you forget about it! ( I also forget lots of things...hhh ) But today, you played the Chopin Ballade no.4! Whether you forget me or not, it's not that crucial point. Only the fact that you played this song is 'Meaningful'. I played this song for few years, because I play the piano without any standard educations and I didnt see any scores, just only seeing Synthesis(?) in youtube. So I asked you to play this song... hhh I live in south korea, so i'm not actually good at English. This comment is not translated... Thank you for reading my poor English. This is my meme profile but I’m a piano teacher and my principal plays this piece. It reminds me of the time I got hired at the music school. I have so many obstacles and challenges in my career because I deal with different kinds of students, some are easy, some are very hard to teach. And this melody just reminds me of the time I got hired and how this melody means hope. It gives me a reminder to never give up and keep doing what I love, which is to teach music.
@kuuderepiano29883 жыл бұрын
That moment is breathtaking 9:12 Chopin mixed elements from Ballade No. 2 there But I just realized that in this Ballade, Chopin also added parts from Ocean Etude, melodies similar to Fantaisie impromptu. I also recognize the left hand pattern from Nocturne No. 2 Near the ending of the piece, there is also a reference from "Double Thirds Etude" There probably are more things I'm unaware about

there are thirds, there are arpeggios, there are chromatic scales, etc. Chopin didn't actively copy any of his other compositions for this, or at least not the ones you said so. Chopin his compositions are just very recognizable (with recognizable I mean the fact that you can always tell when something is written by Chopin), that's why we think he used his own compositions as an inspiration (depending on what piece it is).

Well..I tend to take youtube and it's 'artists' with a pinch of salt but this has changed that for me - what a performance. I 've played and known this piece all my life and this rendition is right up there imo. Real timing, poise, allowing the music to partake of it's mazurka folk breath, the passion when it arrives is a cascade of electrifying playing. the holding back on the rhythms to hold us in Chopin's emotional 'grip' is scintillating, all driven by a faultless technical ability. Really young man, an achievement you have to be immensely proud of. Well done!

Talking about the coda specifcally - i've listened to a lot of takes and i gotta say, i like yours by far the best. Im aware that your talking a more free, maybe not 100% text bound attempt (im not exactly familiär with the text, but from comparison with most others), maybe exaggarting the pedal bit but thats just what it takes sometime. And im not even gonna štart about voicing, dynaics etc, its unique yet extremely attracting. Thats why i like your coda here (and btw, prbly even B1 too) better even than Zimermans, im serious about that. Youve just somehow mastered this aggressive style thats necessary for these codas, in my eyes. Bravo

The buildup at that moment slowly rising and becoming louder, the 4 chords the left hand plays as the right hand is uncontrollably flowing beautifully at 11:34 and then the roaring chord reaching climax at 11:37 that echoes throughout the descending notes is just beautiful. That whole part is something else, I have other parts in this piece as one of my favorite moments too but I just had to point out this part since no one did.

This interpretation is just beautiful, I absolutely love it ! Especially the coda which you did very very well, I love your tone and your phrasing is so good. By the way I’m begging you to do the 3rd one cause it’s by far my favorite ballade of the four and I am sure you would do something beautiful about it. Anyway, as usual this is an insane work and just keep it up my friend !

HE DROPPED ALL THE BALLADES. THIS MAN’S REPERTOIRE IS INSANE! MARVELOUS PERFOMANCE! He is missing the one I’m learning, the 3rd ballade, I’m sure he will drop it in some hours as well...

This piece reveals a universe of musical expression in just over ten minutes. For me, the most beautiful pieces in the piano repertoire. After closing your eyes, this Ballade will take you on a journey to a paradise with birds, sparkling water, the scent of the flowers and your thoughts on your loved one. This is how I experience this Ballad. Chopin, how blessed we are that you have lived on this earth..! Bilal Atabey
