you are so right, Father, and not only our friends, but our teachers, and anyone in authority, would have told us, "no, you are lying to yourself" I can imagine what my guidance counselor would've told me. I was born in 1956. I had a business teacher, who led Bible study, after school. Her name was Mrs. McMeekin, and one day, she asked me, "where will you go, after you die? Do you know?" I was kind of wild, but I knew how far I could take it. I said, "of course I know", because to me, the question was silly. I had never asked my friends what they believed in, because up to that point, I had no idea, no concept that Heaven/ Hell WERE questions. To me, they were absolutes. "where will you go, Anna?" she asked. "Everyone knows we go to Heaven, if we believe in the Lord, Jesus, the Christ", "and if we don't, where then?" she probed. "If you do not believe that Jesus is the son of God, and lived accordingly, you will be in Hell, Mrs. McMeekin". I had no idea, why she was asking me such silly questions. "Oh, ok, that's all I wanted to ask you. wait, what makes you so sure?" I was as exasperated as any newly turned 14 year old could be, by this adult, who was supposed to know this easy stuff, that I'd known since I was 2. "What do you mean? I'm sure because it's in the Bible!" It's been 54 years, and I can still see her face,,, "ok, Anna, as long as you know ir" she said, and walked off.
