While preaching on it certainly helps bring awareness, it won't change things unless we return to right worship in the tridentine mass. When people hear preaching about the real presence, and then 15 minutes later see people having Him placed in people's hands and thrown into their mouth like their eating a snack, what does that really communicate? It says that the new mass permits (and promotes in most cases) careless reception of the Eucharist. "Okay, I see the priest saying this is bad, but then he allows careless reception in the hands."
@glennryan6463 жыл бұрын
@@mathieuconklin3146 What you are saying is that sanctifying grace is only present in the tridentine mass. That would be an error. Secondly, this priest must apply the right amount of force, or he will be bounced by a superior, and all it would take is a few masses from a modernist priest to undo all his good work.
@mathieuconklin31463 жыл бұрын

@@ileanamuntean7338 Always great to have a meeting of minds. I've been reading Fr Dwight Longnecker's book ' Beheading Hydra'. He sees the divide in Christianity not so much between Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant, as between those who accept core Christian beliefs and those who don't and who want to conform Christianity to the whims and desires of man. In saying that he doesn't deny differences in doctrine and dogma, but he located the real 'hydra' in the push to erect what Fulton Sheen called ' the Church without a Cross', a sentimentalised image of a sjw Christ who was really a bit foolish to get crucified at all. I appreciate Fr Kirby's comments on this. I would like to add that we have to find the root of the problem of non belief and sacrilegious communion. It stems from worship. No matter how much preaching is done on the subject, if the mass is designed in a way that focuses on the people more than God, we will continue to have these problems. The new mass, no matter how reverently done (which is extremely rare), has the fundamental design to focus more on the people than on worship of God than that of the Tridentine mass. The sooner we realize this, the better. Idk how much worse things have to get for us to realize the fundamental root of the problem.

I agree with your sermon on worthy reception, aware that I have unworthily received, it’s even in the response before reception, “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof” ( I like the previous “not worthy to receive you”. Makes it more obvious.). However, when the Church (Bishops?) lead us to receive communion like we’re picking up a “Walking Taco”, is it any wonder that people “don’t believe” or “don’t comprehend”? Jesus says if we lust, we are guilty of adultery. Shouldn’t there be at least some minimal hedge around something as important as receiving the Eucharist? Reception on the tongue while kneeling. While we’re at it, how about a return of the altar rail, so that we might be reminded that we are approaching something sacred?

Fr. Kirby there are different reasons for leaving Mass after Communion, some bad and some good. I am one of those who leave Mass after Communion, I leave out of reverence for Our Lord within me Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. I don't like to be interrupted from entertaining the Divine Guest. Right after Communion, we have really bad music. the new ritual of the sacred reading of the bulletin, happy Anniverasies (clap, clap, clap) Happy Birthdays, and every type of human achievement (Clap, Clap, Clap).
