As the former principal of Holy Cross School, one of Nagaland's most prestigious institutions, Father Mathew's influence has extended to every corner of the region. Despite opportunities to work abroad during his overseas journey for his doctorate, he chose to return to Nagaland, as his heart has always remained with the Naga people, whom he considers his own. Additionally, he served as the director of Shalom Rehabilitation Center, working tirelessly with addicts and alcoholics for five years, which had a success rate of 65% which is highest in India till date.
Even in retirement, Father Mathew's dedication to making a difference remains steadfast. As an education and career counselor at NEISSR and an advisor to the All Nagaland Private School Association, he continues to guide and inspire. Despite health challenges, including relying on a pacemaker for the last nine years, he chooses to stay in Nagaland, prioritizing service to society.
