Only God makes you to be holy without confession and receive body and blood of Christ no one can be purified. The most importance of receiving holy Communion and Confession is One to Remove sin from our soul because all of us sinned and fall short of the glory of God, The second is To defeat the evil spirit and this corruption world and the Last and the most important is to get internal life as our Lord Jesus Christ said Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. John 6:54. May God Help you my Sister

@@SocratesSaviorCommunion is the Biggest the most important mystery in the orthodox church, during the holy sacrments the holy spirit will come from heaven to cover the lamb of God even the angels can't touch it God gave authority for priests in the orthodox church the priests authority is like Archangel Michael and archangel gabriel, . whoever receive the Eucharist will be filled by holy spirit, the wine and the bread will turns into the real blood and body of christ his blood and body isn't from this world faith is the most important thing. That's what it keeps you alive but regular confession is important, In the orthodox churchThere are there types of repentance one you repent your sin to yourself you have to know what sin you committed in your life ,second you go to the priest and repent and the final is repent to God. After you tell your symptoms to the doctor, the doctor will give you the right medicen. Holy Communion is just like that it's a medicine for sick soul.

HAYLE GABREAL hello my friend thank you for your reply. I understand how orthodox do it because i used to be one. I now walk and follow christ because god showed me the truth. Communion is not when holy spirit comes. The holy spirit comes after u get baptized. That is where the orthodox faith is wrong. They teach something else. Its not about religion. Its about christ alone. They teach the blood and bread will keep u holy when it doesnt say that in the bible. Read the bible and u will see for yourself. It also doesnt say to repent to man but only to God! Man cant forgive ur sins but god himself can. :) may god bless u and show you the truth like he did for me :) amen

@@SocratesSavior don't fool yourself please Orthodox is the only true religion in this dark world don't look outside the church, I'm Ethiopian orthodox but all orthodox around the world are the same It's stablished by Christ blood as the name suggest Orthodox we got it from God Inside this church you get the real God Jesus Christ and The Mother of God Mary, For this religion many sacrificed their life they beheaded , they suffered, they're burnt alive, if you look at the twelve apostle all died in suffering ways, if you look to saint George story he sentenced to death for refusing his faith, in recently if you look in Ethiopia middle east in Libya many sacrificed their life for orthodox religion. The Orthodox church has bought by Christ blood. she is an Apostolic church it's follow the teaching of Our lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and the 12 appostles, don't compare this church with any other church in the world, because if you once out of the Orthodox church you will not find Christ, The other religion are dominated by evil spirit by Demons, Satan And Lucifer especially if you go to the protestant world you will see it the trueth, and also their main target is always is to destroy this church which follows the real teaching of God. But as God says They will never even touch it And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. The other About Sin yes it's true man can't forgive but but in the orthodox church Sinners should got to their priest and have to repent their sin before God and the priest, in this case the priest is just the witness between the person and God it's like, Priests have received a power which God has given neither to angels nor to archangels. It was said to them: “Whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever you shall loose, shall be loosed.” Temporal rulers have indeed the power of binding: but they can only bind the body. Priests, in contrast, can bind with a bond which pertains to the soul itself and transcends the very heavens. Did [God] not give them all the powers of heaven? “Whose sins you shall forgive,” he says, “they are forgiven them; whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.” The Father has given all judgment to the Son. And now I see the Son placing all this power in the hands of men [Matt. 10:40; John 20:21-23]. So What religion you follow now and what about your Families? Please Have think May God Lead you in the light of life and reveal you the true religion in the world where your soul will get Peace and rest from God eternity as Christ said John 6:37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

Please read more brother may God bless and lead you in the life of light. Read Ethiopian orthodox church you will amazed by the tradition of the church we have our own language it's called Geez( It's found only in the Ethiopian orthodox church if you come to our church you will hear it in the holy divine liturgy) you will be amazed our fathers told us this language is the first language which was used by Adam and eve and a heavenly language. There are so many things to learn in the orthodox churchs for example God, About mother of God, Saints ,about Monasteries, about hermits about Life itself about hell and heaven, about archangels, about the fallen angels and demons and his army including Lucifer who wants place himself as a God or look like a God but he cast out from heaven and sent to the fire of hell in the lake of fire or abyss. It is not appropriate to film inside the holy mystery place where the bread and the wine turns into the body and blood of Christ. If you come to the Ethiopian orthpdpdx church only the priests and deacons are the one who allowed to go in, It's a very holy places during the holy sacrament a holy angels will come from heaven. The mystery and the preparation of the holy Eucharist are more than Our thinking. It's beyond human thinking and imagination.

The Old Testament insists that Priests be richly decorated and that the temples are equally so. The dress is based on many high societal garments dating back to the Roman period like Togas and Cloaks. This is so that the worship can be interpreted as a Holy Empire as the Roman Empire was secular.

Jesus may have granted us his grace for salvation but did not exempt us from the discipline of worship and prayer. Grace is something sought, not used to bypass actual devotion.Orthodoxy encourages Universal Asceticism not Universal Self Righteousness and Pride. We are also still in an Age of Law but Christ simply annulled the Sentence on Earth. Peter 3:3-4 are compatible with Orthodoxy entirely as Peter actually entreats us to Mysticism and Prayer.

Certain points or questions for you before I bring you my comments only based on Bible. YOU: Jesus may have granted us his grace for salvation but did not exempt us from the discipline of worship and prayer ME: What is the discipline of worship & prayer? YOU: Grace is something sought, not used to bypass actual devotion ME: What is actual devotion? YOU: "We are also still in an Age of Law but Christ simply annulled the Sentence on Earth ME: Read the below verse and understand what is the difference between LAW and GRACE Galatians 2:16: know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. YOU: Peter actually entreats us to Mysticism and Prayer. ME: Can you prove me by showing related verses from Bible? FYI - All conversations/comments/arguments related to Christian devotion must be centered with the KEY POINTS only through the verses from "The Holy Bible'' but not out of YOUR/OUR own imagination or thoughts or opinions. LOT MORE TO COME TO KNOW THE ACTUAL TRUTH. MY ONLY THIRST IS - "MAY GOD HELP ALL THE READERS TO UNDERSTAND THE TRUTH THAT WILL SET YOU FREE" - JOHN 8:32.

@antonypowell3761 6 жыл бұрын
The disciplines of worship and prayer are numerous. Here in Orthodoxy we focus on the discipline of Fasting, Rosary-Based Prayer and Physical Exertion such as standing in Church. Devotion is what I mentioned above. Many Church Fathers from the Original Church of the 4th Century starved themselves to near death, spent hours saying prayers and lived in caves and hollowed out tree trunks. This Asceticism is true devotion and if you can achieve half of it you're on the right track. Indeed, we need Christ's grace to begin being saved. None of us would be worthy to begin on the road of salvation without it. But we still need good works to be saved. Jesus urged us to labour for the food which endures to eternal life (John 6:27-29). God also rebukes the rich man for not helping the poor because when one neglects the poor they neglect God himself. Christ also said he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life (John 6:54). Peter 3:3-4 is the example I need. He encourages us to look within ourselves. Not at Christ who is outside but Christ who is within us. This enables us to pray and devote ourselves to him and to, in the End, experience his uninterrupted gaze. I pray I have satisfied your yearning for Bible Quotations and entreat you to understand that the Church was founded by Christ and is a crucial stepping stone to Heaven that cannot be ignored. I do not imagine but seek the council of our church fathers and of the Bible. I also have no wish to argue with someone whose icon says "Jesus loves You". May the Grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ and Love of God the Father and the Communion of the Holy Spirit be with You.

RADU LAZAR I don't mind it at all is just weird as the music of the Byzantine hymns was written on the Greek middle age language so it's just sounds weird to my ears as is not what I used to, is lacking melody so they need to readjust the notes on the language they speak. In Greece the church is refusing to translate the liturgy into the modern Greek and as a result very few people understand the meaning of the hymns and the gospel especially young people and old people who due to the war haven't got the opportunity to attend school. Personally i understand as I studied classics and Ancient Greek but what about the rest of the people? Finally I don't believe in God's existence as I read the old and New Testament and the ecclesiastical history including the decisions from the ecumenical councils and nothing can convince me that religion and Christianity isn't a form of systematic rules of morals and lifestyle restrictions in order to control the masses and make money. Religion restrict the person ability to think freely, there is only one life the one we live here and is better to make it worth and have a positive contribution to this society.

i see your point. i am from Romania the the liturgy is here in romanian (the spoken one). the byzantin liturgy has been translated also in other languages. the Russioan, Serbs use slavic, the Georgian them language, the orthodox arabs in arabic. the Byzantin music is originaly syruac, not greek. St. Jhon from Damascus (the autor of ochtoic - his icon in on the first page of the book) was sirian, st. Efraim, too, St. Jhon Chrisostom live in a mixt are of syrian/greek culture.

2326038 when we do something in the Orthodox church we do it with meaning and with faith because our church is gives us life which is the body and blood of Christ. we don't make or kiss or use Cross for symbol or just to show up for Crowd of people it doesn't work in that kind of way brother.everything has meaning, when we make the sign of the Cross from up to down it means that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ came from heaven to earth to save humanity he became flesh born as a human but also don't forget he is a also a God (A Son of God) The second person in the holy Trintity. Next wen we make from left to right it represents that Christ's take us from sin(Left) to holy (Right) Also has another meaning he bring us from hell to Heave. That's the fist meaning of the Cross dear brother. Further up Cross are Our freedom for Christians because God defeated death and the fallen angels by his death on the cross, If you see churches wherever yo go all over the world whether in middle east ,Saudi arabya,thought Africa,south America Europe North America or australia they constructed by the blood of christ At 9 o'clock in Friday when Jesus Died on the cross for the sin of the world archangel Uriel sent from heaven to earth for sprinkle christ blood all over the world in every place where a drop of blood fell a church was built.
