did my first ever build to this case and it was a pleasure to work with, it was heavy and the hdd stand wall was hard to replace to make an "open look" but everything else is done like it should be
@WayStedYou7 жыл бұрын
You can move the drive shroud to the back of the case and mount 2 harddrives vertically on the back of it while still opening up the front of the case for watercooling.
@majesticgoatgaming56087 жыл бұрын
Surprised he didn't mention it.
@WayStedYou7 жыл бұрын
To be fair, nearly everyone missed that in their reviews, even though it is on the product page. It does make the case more useable though as you can still have proper storage and open up the front for airflow/looks or put a front mounted radiator.

What I'd change about the R6 is the front panel. Add a meshify front panel while keeping the ODD bay and I'd be happy. The front panel is the only complaint I have.
@luciascarlet7 жыл бұрын
Agreed but not sure about the ODD bay, I think that should be another optional module as it can ruin the clean front look of a case. Also, I strongly dislike the black front on the white version right now as white fronts on cases are usually what draws me to them. No clue what they were thinking there...
@Euleyr7 жыл бұрын
defi exactly why im not getting it. The front ruins it
@gattocake7 жыл бұрын
It's designed and marketed as a silent case and the front panel reflects that.

with that bit of brushed (stainless steel?) on the front, it reflects a lot more than I want it to. They did a Meshify C, they can do a Meshify R6

The drive cage can be installed backwards so the case becomes like a define S as well, you can mount 2x 3.5" drives on the back of the cage as well when it's setup like this.

It was either this or a meshify C which was half the price. I want no regrets so I Picked up this case last week. Loving it. Many features, customizations, tempered glass and has 5.25” optical bay drive. It’s like a full size case in a mid case form. I should of bought it months ago but ended up buying a cheaper CM case that I am now stuck with. Lesson to be learned: sometimes you gotta spoil yourself.

Perfect case. Great review from a fellow Aussie - thank you! Just can't understand why the PSU cover is not removable. I spent a billion bucks on my Seasonic Titanium 1000 and I'd like it to feature in the case. Boggles my mind why they would force me to cover up my gorgeous PSU. Suppose we'll have to wait 'til the R7 for them to fix that questionably major oversight! Dunno what possessed them to do that - everything else is pristine and well considered.

Great review. I'm going for the gunmetal as soon as its available. Just one thing though (unless I missed it) you didn't mention much about the front panel. It can be opened to allow for more air flow, has a nice dust filter, and the actual door can be removed and made to swing open to either side (seems like they have its backwards by default, but you can switch it to swing open to the right). Again good review, and great case Fractal. Cant wait.

I love Fractal cases. The R5 was great. You are accurate saying that it's good for professional uses, it's clean 'non gamery' look is why I chose it to build some PC's for graphic designers. It was a plus that it was also well designed internally. I use scorptec also for ordering parts. I really like their products/price and website. I DO NOT like the fact they have out sourced their call center but hey, which company hasn't in 2017?

Really like the case, looks great and price is still ok here where I live with 149 Euros. However I don't get why the PSU cover has got some kind of mesh. Maybe I'm wrong but as far as I know, a PSU covers purpose is to thermally separate the PSU from the rest of the PC right?
@GameOverAus7 жыл бұрын
nope, just to hide it and the cables, the "mesh" also has holes for connecting 2 SSD's and for cable pass through

Game Over Yeah, that's also what I think it's useful for. I'm just a little confused because I've seen some threads where there claim that. I might buy that case, since my current case has no cover and it just doesn't look nice at all without any cover.

Unfortunately I have that corsair CPU cooler, same issue trying to mount it in the R5 case :( This is a near perfect design though I would have preferred it to come with the USB Type C as standard especially since the upgrade is not listed to buy on Scorptec at this time. The design is near perfect as far as cooling and filters and such but after having a R4 and R5 I find this design a bit boring :( I was wanting to get the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Tempered Glass but it has terrible venting, only two USB3 front headers, no type C and the psu filter pulls out the rear. I might have to go with the boring but practical design.

Got an R4 & R5, both great cases, but $240 for this is a bit rich, especially if when you start adding all those extras. $175.00 is about the sweet spot. I think its for those who just say eff it, I love it I want it even though I know I'm overpaying.

I think im going to swap my pc case from a Obsidian 750D to this, i have the 750D for 4 months now and one of the 2 thumbscrews holding the plastic window is broken already... after only having used it 4 times... and with like 3000 euros of hardware in it i want it to be in a goos case. R6 is just awesome, but if you choose a case for yourself some things should be mentioned: if you are not watercooling(custom loop) or do not have a plenty of hard drives, this case is likely going to be too large for you. Don't ge me wrong, this case is awesome indeed, every bit of it awesome, but this is not necessarily the go-to case for an average build. The price tag of 150USD is also not that low. Define C TG or Meshify C are going to be more suitable for some builds
@ptose7 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised to see this mentioned in every tech channel as the perfect case. I'm surprised because there are tons of cases, and still everybody is raving about just this one. Aesthetically is good, but there are many cases that are as good or better looking than this. The price is quite high but if there are three fans included maybe it's not that high. I don't know, I'm tempted to give it a chance since I keep reading "ultimate case" everywhere, but looking at it it seems just another decent box.
@GameOverAus7 жыл бұрын
the fans aren't generic ones like would usually be the case in case designs they are there new line of 140mm static pressure fans it's also steel like the NZXT case not aluminium or cheap plastic parts like the majority of other. Dunno about ultimate but it certainly is a decent case
