Why Kyle is so dearly missed - and it reminds me everytime he's on something like this - is his ability to challenge other allies' views.. which I think no one really does in the group (anymore). Damiani keeps throwing stuff out there and usually people just go with it but Kyle has this trait to immediately call stuff out when something seems off to him and forces people to elaborate -> which also makes for great conversations, probably another thing fans miss about him

I figure that comes in part to him being such a good host and always looking at things from all angles. I mostly miss Kyle because he was the biggest creative force of the group. I still think Kyle is 1 of the most creative critics in the biz. So many running gags are still from him.

From what is known about Bayonetta 3's development, the worse framerate than 1 & 2 and how the worlds feel like they could have been in any order is because it was going to be open world. The island was going to be an open hub and you'd be able to go to any of the worlds in any order. And due to loading differences needing more of the world to load at a time, the performance took a hit. But then the director changed and they just felt like it wasn't working, so they shifted gears to make it more traditional, however the mechanical back end and world designs were too far along to change these things.

Wow that take that Damiani had that people should pay full price for Advanced Wars, but not Bayonetta Origins is mind boggling, especially when the the former has a much lower budget than the latter. Not to mention, it’s a series he has never even played before. This is exactly why game companies keep making remakes and remasters and not try new things. Also saying Bayonetta Origins looks like an indie game is such a huge disrespect to the artists at Platinum smh. I bet you none of the guys balked at paying full price for games like Viewtiful Joe, Okami, Wind Waker and etc.

Also during the Bayonetta 3 launch the platinum games website talked about Takahisa Taura's team being well into development into their next thing and I'm pretty sure it will be Astral Chain 2. Kyle is weird about that game that he's never played and barely looked at but it is actually a damn well received new ip from Platinum and a lot of the Bayo 3 mechanics borrowed from it.

Sometimes they just take what each ally thought of the game as gospel to a fault. As much I agreed with Ben on certain games, there were often times I wholly disagreed with him as well and he was on the much lower and negative end when it came to Astral Chain compared to other reviewers.

If I remember right, traveling between the physical and spectral planes in Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was called shunting. But that word definitely sounds more fitting for ramming your car into other cars.

Big Transformers fan here, and Platinum's Transformers Devastation is my favorite Transformers game ever. A sequel with more characters and levels would have been great, the only knock I can give it is maybe not enough / repeating content. But the gameplay is far and away the best way to play as Transformers. Prove me wrong, please :)

its an amazing game and the transform attacks were pretty innovative and carried on to nier and astral chain and by extension bayonetta 3. People seem to credit Nier or Astral Chain for stuff but Taura's team was on Transformers and that's where a lot of the best combat stuff originates.

Still one of my favorite fighting games. Melee may be my fav but in SSB64 the attacks hit harder, both in sound FX and actual hitstun, which is great for combos. Game definitely holds up and remains feeling unique

For the email about games inspired by Breath of the Wild, I can name a few of my favourites - Horizon Zero Dawn - I walked everywhere in the game, it was such a joy. God of War 2018 - the way the level at the Lake of The Nine changed as the World Serpent rose up is one of the best mechanics I've seen. Ghost of Tsushima - the open landscapes really gave me the hey what's that over there I'm gonna go take a look feeling.

I treated Bayo Origins kind of like a metroidvania thing, it really is, its constantly introducing new exploration mechanics and as you unlock Cheshire's elemental forms, it basically opens up the map to sometimes completely optional areas. So I got pretty much every collectible, there's an area that expands as you find more of the Wisps - and as it expands it can actually lead you to even MORE optional areas of the map, and I maxed out the skill tree which also requires doing exploration to find the unique upgrade items for both characters. Doing this plus the small post game story content took exactly 30 hours for me to do, but 100%ing requires doing what are essentially dungeons via time trials which can unlock some costumes and stuff. It was a very beefy experience. There is also a code you can input at the main menu to start the game on the higher difficulty because yes it isn't easy to die in the game until you get to real bosses and the finale, and has great accessibility design, so its an option if people want to have more of a challenge.

I liked Bayonetta 3 a lot. The combat was on point, the set pieces were engaging, and I loved the creativity throughout. My only complaints were it can't keep up technically and the enemy designs got a little monotonous (despite their varied gameplay). 2 is still my favorite, and despite 1 being influential its pacing has issues and it feels dated. So 3 fits snugly in the middle for me. People upset that the story wasn't emotional, well... really the only character action scene that's ever been emotional to me was Dante vs. Vergil at the end of DMC 3.

I really enjoyed my road to S+ Professional in RE4R. I said I'd do it with no bonus items/infinite ammo weapons/no Ashley armour, and I did it. With a lot of practise routing in Hardcore difficulty (basically just re-ran HC over and over lol) I knocked out my Pro run in the better part of a day. I bet Damiani would smash S+ Pro no worries.

As someone in South Dakota, really the only worthwhile place to set a video game would be in Deadwood. Casinos, sandstone cliffs, tall pine trees, tourist shops. I think you could also make the Badlands or Mt. Rushmore/Crazy Horse work, but there wouldn't be many other people in a modern setting. If you did North Dakota, the only worthwhile setting would have to be in the far west where all the oil drilling takes place.

Im gonna try to get ahead of the RF switch comment by saying that more communication options would be SO useful in splatoon! Just something simple like "I'm hanging back" or "I'm charging ahead" would make a gigantic difference because you always need a good balance of people covering the base and people attacking middle/enemy base. And what happens is people often ignore that balance because they can't coordinate and by the time they reach the halfway point of the match it becomes near impossible to recover. That's just an example, but I often play casually and even then I wish I could say more than This Way and Booyah.

I just hit Ch.4 in Bayo Origins. HLtB says it's 15 hours. 22 Completionist. So, it's long enough. It's pretty good fun and looks nice, but I hope it ramps up a little more now. Kinda wish it was shorter from where I'm at with it now. Wait for a sale unless you really love Bayonetta the character (and she isn't as annoying as little Cereza in the mainline games)

With apex pings can be toxic from a teammate but the majority of interactions on there are pretty good. I think because you can only see pings from the other two players on your team. And if you make one bad play, everything goes wrong and you don't have to play with those teammates ever again.

Don't forget there's a "mute pings" toggle on the squad menu that allows you to individually mute the pings (or voice) from any of your teammates. It's been a lifesaver for all the times my random teammates run into battle stupidly then spam ping for me to pick up their deathbox banners constantly

For the Splatoon 3 Sort it out that I wrote, it's not necessary to communicate like Kyle said, but having played almost everyday since launch Salmon Run at Eggsecutive VP rank in Freelance mode (with random people), I wish I could say command like "To basket", "prioritise + choose enemy" or "Special?". Getting to Eggsecutive VP rank takes a little bit of practice and can be easier in some run, but with harder level and weapon combination, some player are having a rough time and I wish I could help them a little.

Lol the guys really don’t know they are in the minority when it comes to Astral Chain huh. It’s one of the best Action games of the generation. Also their lack of knowledge and their takes on Platinum as a whole is wild and baffling. Damiani claims Platinum is run like a business when the Allies’ favorite child, Capcom, has only been releasing games of the same 3-4 IPs for the last 10 years, not putting out a single new IP in that time. If that’s not pure corporate and business decisions, I’d not know what is. The Allies really have such tunnel vision sometimes when it comes to certain companies and games.

RE4 Mercenaries was easily half my playtime back in 2005. The mechanics just work so well for the arcade-like nature of the mini game. Had a blast getting max rank on each level with each unique character to get the hand cannon. Highly recommend new RE4 players to check out the Mercenaries in the remake. Not sure why Capcom released it so late but at least everyone's warmed up now to get those kill combos!

I haven't gotten around to RE4R yet but mercenaries was my jam back in the day. Me and a few buddies used to pass the controller over every match to try and beat each others high score which really extended our time with the mode. So satisfying!

Funny that with hindsight, august would be a bad date for Bayonetta Origins as well since now we know Armored Core 6 is coming out. Damiani's pitch about Epic asking devs to make modes for them is a bit naive. Epic has more than enough devs internally to make content for Fortnite. They're way more experienced with the engine and the fortnite codebase than any other. Why would they risk anything working with new partners that could make something inferior or not make the deadline?
