Whoa damiani lives in bens old apartment some nice easy allies lore :D Also that was quite an interesting hottake! I've got to say I could relate in my own personal circumstance, damani's "do something more with your life" resonated with me. Adult life can make you get very complacent with your current path because of all the responsibilities you have, at the same time you gotta follow your dreams!

IIRC, when Damiani was let go and moved to Texas, his old apartment was rented to Ben who initially lived further than GT. Ben took the chance and asked him to gave him that apartment spot. When GT got canned and EZA was formed, Damiani later came back from Texas, which means Ben had to move out and give back Damiani his old apartment back. There was a period of time Ben have to sleep bag on Damiani place.... I think. He did mentioned about looking for apartment during streams back then.

Some things that you guys missed about Warcraft 3 reforged. They merged the old client into reforged, if you had an original version of the game and updated it then it is now in the reforged version. This means that the classic version suffers from all the faults of reforged. There are no shadows in the original graphics now, custom campaigns have been cut, Lan is gone, you have to go through the editor to play against the AI in a match, the menu is now connected to online features you don't need, ladder is cut, clans are gone as well as tons of other online features. If you play campaign offline it will not save your progress due to some DRM. the menu runs through a chrome browser some users found. Animations of models are locked at 30 frames which looks jarring, some unique animations were not even reforged, they just copied multiple animations for the same old one. in the cinematics, units that are talking will randomly disappear, corpses will move and many other lazy issues. They ruined the old game and that was unnecesary
@lazersoupe
@lazersoupe 4 жыл бұрын
So the developers just responded on the warcraft forums and it is some of the most vague and disregarding BS. They say that they wanted to preserve original spirit but then why did they nuke the classic client and cut features. They say they won't comment on many issues which is code for "we're not going to fix the bulk of problems". This company is garbage, past blizzard would release a quality product even if it took longer but now they outsource the bulk of their work and sit on their hands till their shareholders need an earnings report.

Congrats on episode 100. Great great hottake!! I especially loved Damiani's insight into his thoughts re: the company and how he feels he has a responsibility to his patrons and how the pressure of that can influence his decision making. I think that's true of almost all the youtubers/streamers out there. Personally I feel as long as you guys preserve that creative core and never 'sell out' you will be fine. Patrons support Easy Allies for a reason and I feel it's the honesty and camaraderie that is so appealing. Don't lose sight of that and don't over think things. I couldn't imagine the pressure one would feel knowing that your passion and livelihood is dependent on the generosity of patrons. Hope you guys see this and looking forward to another few hundred episodes of Frametrap/Easy Allies Podcast etc!!!

Metroid Prime 3 was the first Metroid game, of any kind, I've ever played. I loved it, going to different planets and using the ship to progress in some instances gave me R&C vibes (even though the game-play is of course very different, but R&C does have some lite metroidvania elements as well). I distinctly remember some planets, like the one with the ruins, and being so intrigued by these alien environments. Really strange how it connects with R&C for me. And you can bet 14 or 13 year old me thought Dark Samus was super cool

I love Damiani talking about his thoughts on what EZA could be doing. On that note I’d like to see an experimental month of content. Like he said, keep the main podcast and Frame Trap but put everything else on hold and do some new, crazy, something they’ve always wanted to do for one month. See how it goes and then continue with “normal” content and then take feedback and maybe change some things up.

We can be somewhat informed about how Subscriptions will affect gaming because of its existence in the past... pc games piracy in the 80s and 90s. If you were around for it, most games were widely available to the entire public for “free”. (Leisure Suit Larry was considered a disaster our Bomb until Sierra realized they were selling more strategy guides than existed legal copies of the game.) here are some predictions: 1) the attention span of gamers will drop to mere minutes. If a game isn’t immediately exciting, gamers will just “change the channel”. 2) gamers will try more genres. Like a buffet, when there is nothing lost, people are more adventurous. 3)developers will try harder for alternative revenue streams like, traditionally, hint books. In a modern context, Microtransactions. 4) games will design around subscriptions just like older games designed around piracy. (Moon language puzzles existed to sell hint guides.) 5)people will finish even fewer games than they already do, which is about 30%. This will effect “story” games because people won’t know the story. 6) we will see greater utility of name brands because, when faced with choice, people resort to what they know and trust.

Correction: genes being recessive does not imply anything about strength or weakness. It just means you need 2 copies of that gene to get the trait fully passed down to the offspring (or be the only copy of the gene). Recessive genes can absolutely be tied to much hardier or beneficial traits than dominant genes. Dominant genes can pass down very detrimental traits.

Loved the inward looking hotake, just a fascinating conversation. Also the multiplayer question (despite being a repeat) hits really close to home, I can't imagine teaming up with people in multiplayer games that I don't know in the real world, and I know very few people who play games, and it really does lock you out of parts or the entirety of some games. Going on discord and meeting strangers feels like a nightmare to me. It can be frustrating, but I am consoled by the fact that there are way too many amazing games to ever play anyway. L&R.

It's funny because I also am not into fantasy and had lots of issues with the P5 cast and if he just said that I think no one would question it, but he does like to word his criticisms in weird ways so it's no wonder people constantly ask him about it.

I can relate to his criticism to Persona 5, that's why despite i love SMT i've never been able to feel the same for Persona. They always try to make the cast extremely cool, way cooler than the rest of the characters in the game, when sometimes the player just wants to be the underdog, the one nobody cares.

it took me two days to get to the Hottake lol. and I'll say I agree with Damiani. I love a lot of what you guys do individually but I think some of my favorite stuff has been the betting specials. I dont want those all the time, but I do wish they happened more often. And outside of that just more collaboration between the allies. As someone who doesnt often play horror games I love Huber and Kyle's playthroughs of scary games, and the chemistry they have. I would love to see stuff like that more often not just with them but with other duos and maybe even more. I think of something like Prepare to Try where three people that had a great friendship and rapport started a series of just playing the Souls games forthe first time. those sorts of things are where the bread and butter of Easy Allies lies I think, collaboration with one another. I would even consider not playing games for review anymore, but simply for discussion and impressions more than a real "review." I dunno how others would feel about that.
@mellowtron9221
@mellowtron9221 4 жыл бұрын
Planet RAW Reviews are worthless to me as well. Just stream the game, it gives a better look into the game anyway. These reviews try to cram all these different thoughts into a short little package and are jumping around in footage and ideas that just can’t be backed up in such a short amount of time. Not to mention how apparently time-consuming they are to produce.

We've been over this several times on podcasts, Q&As and a lengthy response on reddit. Kyle does not want to do a repeat of something he already did, especially if it would be a worse version (they have less time, money, and resources than at GT). I love The Final Bosman to death (I spent hundred of hours making a tribute to it) but it would suck to know he'd be hating it the whole time and stressing out. Change is scary, but getting something new is always more exciting.

I was thinking about what the Hottake a few days ago, actually. I definitely started picking up on some really rote vibes. Things are feeling a little samey, I think. I'll never pull my pledge from Patreon. I want you to make the content you want, be it butter claymation or betting specials. I kind of thought that was the whole reason you HAVE a Patreon, right? I was a little surprised by your taking on of big, impersonal corporate sponsors since that signaled more of an appeal to the masses than the implied ethos of a Patreon project. Butt I'll support you either way, because I like you and I think WHATEVER you make (and I mean WHATEVER) is worth a couple sheckles a month, easily. Please do what you want, and without reservation. Great episode. It's hard to imagine anyone leaving EZA because you guys ARE the Easy Allies. IGN is a faceless corporation, and even the name Giant Bomb refers to a website or a company. Easy Allies points directly to the 9 allies so it's hard to imagine EZA being anything different. But there is a push from some of the community for a 10th ally, so clearly change is possible. Even if addition is much easier than subtraction.

Kyle, there's a new armor in Monster Hunter for beginners where it's way easier to get into it and do the first missions.

If there is ever in the future an entirely new crew taking over Easy Allies, it should be like TNG where you still get occasional cameos from the old crew.

i think Temtem has a lot of potential, i just hope they capitalize. i dont really agree it looks flat or the designs are uninteresting but there are a lot of features I think that would make the game take off like a rocket that im hoping they add

35:00 In case Damiani wants to know, but I guess Blood could tell this better than I can... about witchers and emotions. The witchers like to keep up the illusion that they know no emotions. I think it's just one of those convenient rumors going around about witchers that they rather keep alive than let die. But they really do feel things. And Geralt is not special in that regard.

I don't understand why Ben didn't explain FE's combat as being more or less identical to Persona's. He got real in-depth considering how much he could've simplified it.
