Love the series! "Lay out" is two words with the verb "lay", hyphenated at best. The noun "layout" is one word. Who asked me, and who cares? We all have our hobbies.

I don't have any of this stuff on my horizon but I have been learning so much for when I do.I also could tell that not only are you training your guy the way you want him to do it, but you kitted him out with gear (and not just the snap-back) that will make him a more efficient worker. I also appreciate how you edit out all the shouty bits (and the cursing) so I can watch with my kids!

These framing lessons are coming in right on time. Self build workshop footing pour is tomorrow, as close to square as I could. Then ICF stem walls.. string line and laser at the ready (though my laser is less rugged, more frugal!)

I actually own 4 of them and 1 was hard to wind since brand new and another needs jiggled every once in a while to wind in but the line is soo crisp. The other two work perfect

I put Tajima lines in my other chalk lines. Crisp, fine lines with more robust housing and mechanics. Best of both.

Did you mean to say "I got caulky" or "I got car key"?😂 Also, I still don't understand, what all the measuring and lasering was for, but I was eating while watching. Should have paid attention.

When doing your measurements, don't you start your measurement at the 1' mark to increase accuracy?

How are you verifying parallelism by pulling tape and laser? I don’t see laser on. Are you pulling diagonals vs the reference wall?

ever hear of 3, 4, 5? a2+b2=c2? or a construction calculator? rise/run diagnol? The laser is cool, we didnt have that in my day, trial and error and different colored chalk to adjust..

How is the stabila la180 better than the 350 dollar laser levels at box stores? Is it worth the 2k price tag?
@AwesomeFramers
@AwesomeFramers 2 ай бұрын
Yes it is. It is far more accurate. Check the accuracy to compare to whatever model you are thinking of. Stabila is easier to dial in, or even automatic if you buy that version. It also fans the beams out better than the other little cross line. Those really are just for interior work, like trim carpentry, tile and even smaller framing.

@@AwesomeFramers thanks for the reply. I was thinking of Bosch GRL800-20HVK Self-Leveling Rotary Laser Kit. Its also a rotary laser. Upon review stabila is at 3/32 at 100ft while bosch is 3/16 at 100 ft. But the 600 vs 2 k price tag is quite a diff. Prices for these lasers has been coming down over time!

@@makethingshappen8427 and if you don't need the extra accuracy, save the money. Is that Bosch just a rotary?
@makethingshappen8427

@@AwesomeFramers yea has a receiver as well and 800ft capability. It wont match elevation of the receiver though like stabila will. Thats the main difference.
@AwesomeFramers

@@makethingshappen8427 Ah, if you don't need the elevation, save the money. We need it for stepped foundation work and framing.

Where are the hold downs and anchor bolts ❓
@pcatful
@pcatful 2 ай бұрын
Good question. Probably using post drilled anchors like Simpson Titen, and epoxy anchors for HD (some engineers don't like them for HD, but we have used them in remodel projects for decades--requires special inspection).
