Looking good. The office is sounding more like a man cave. Like the idea of the train around the walls of the office. I have a small layout in my garage. The neon signs would look great.

Are you going to put up a couple really large ceiling fans? Nice start on the office. I need to get me one of those little dirt movers, it's nice when you can do allot of the work yourself!
@shotslife2 жыл бұрын
In the garage there will be three and in the office 1 or 2, haven’t decided yet. Yeah doing work ourselves always saves $$$! My building fund is on fumes now! 😂

I have some old American Flyer Trains (S scale) and one for the Christmas Tree (G Scale but Santa Clause) I’ll probably buy a nice large G scale train for the office.

With all the train that I have put up, plexi around the shelf prevents a lot of cursing when a train takes the deep 6 (or in this case 8) off the wall. What gauge are you going with?
@shotslife2 жыл бұрын
I’m going to go with G Scale, what Scale are you using?
@Leviathan6092 жыл бұрын
@@shotslife I have quite a few, to be honest. For the main ones I've done, I've used H.O. scale, as 2 tracks fit nicely on a 6 inch shelf. I've also done Lionel O scale and 2 rail o scale, though I have layouts in N scale as well.
@shotslife2 жыл бұрын
Wow your like me, all over the map, I have mostly S scale been handed down from my grand fathers. Then I found N scale sets on sale for $10 in 1989 at the mall (I bought 12 sets), then the boys Scouts auctioned an O scale and no one bid on it so I just bought it from them.. then I had some HO from when I was a kid (mostly junk now, I played rough)… then I bought “New Bright Christmas trains” which are G scale… but I plan to fin a nice LGB engine at some point. Maybe an RJ Corman engine as RJ lived near me before he died.
@Leviathan6092 жыл бұрын
@@shotslife yeah, I hear you. Most of my Lionel is from my Grandfather. S Scale is a real treasure though, as so few people model it. That being said, the one thing I will recommend is if you want to run both, you can. I have hand laid track that can run both sizes of trains, and if you want, and when you get to that point of putting it up, let me know. Effectively you use the same rail height for both scales, and sky is the limit. If you wanted to run G, S, and HO, you might even be able to make that happen too, though with HO, you are going to have an easier time just laying a separate set of rails between the G scale ones.
@Leviathan6092 жыл бұрын
@@shotslife one other thing, make sure you run some 12 or 14 gauge wire around the perimeter of your shelf for track feeders. It will reduce the voltage drop from where your transformer is to the farthest side of the tracks. It also helps prevent things like loose rail joints from becoming an issue.
@ericfraser75432 жыл бұрын
8:57 you probably want to or will have to install 5/8 drywall against that wall for a fire stop to your living space. Plus you want 5/8 for 24" OC studs especially if you install fiberglass bats which will cause regular 1/2 to sag. They also sell high strength 1/2 drywall designed for ceiling and walls 24 OC. Being on the river, I hope you did not get flooded out like the other folks in Kentucky this week.
@shotslife2 жыл бұрын
Good though on the drywall… we are high and dry, the lower land is flooding but the house is way above the dam level thankfully. But those poor people in eastern Ky!

Yeah, so it’s the protector over the lens and they just don’t last, one little hit and they scratch, now that I am in bright light they show like crazy… I just took them off, I’ll only use them when I fiberglass but you’ll have to live with it till I use up the footage… 😢
