Merci pour le truc de l'huile. J'y avais pensé pour la scie à main mais pas pour les vis. Tu es doué. Je construit moi même sdes cabanes depuis des années mais là, je me bats contre du chataigner qui est un bois encore plus dur que le chêne. Je ne film pas car je le fais pour des enfants dans mes 2 forêts. Je suis propriétaire de ces 2 forêts et en plus de vendre le bois, je fais de petites cabanes que les enfants adorent. Je suis contente d'avoir regardé tes vidéos. Bravo, tu es un sacré bosseur. Tu as tout mon respect.

Outstanding Luxon! Had an utterly wretched day at work, just got home, kicked off the boots and cracked open a bottle of whisky and now am about to decompress watching a guy rebuild a humble cottage into another of his masterpieces. This one is special because it's YOURS and you have a connection to its history. The "old world" craftsmanship and attention to detail is sadly lacking nowadays, you preserving as much of it as possible is a fine tribute to those folk that spent so much time and effort in building it in the first place. i love restoration of old buildings instead of tearing them down. Keeping history is so important. i do have to admit, sometimes i wonder how often you edit out thumb smashing with the hammer! I know if i did videos, they would be so short from all the injuies I'd cause myself. lol. keep up the good work & inspiration.

Glad to see you used rough-sawn timber and doubled the existing rafters. That will age nicely and is sympathetic to the original build. That gutter system looks practical and easy to clean leaves out of. Some heavy black building paper will last indefinitely. Even a couple of diagonal roof-plane braces would not go amiss. I did much precision work with a good electric chainsaw on quite big timber back in the day. Looking forward to the next video. 👍🏻

All your builds turn out awesome, so I was curious are you self taught, learned from family, or learned your skills on the job? Will you keep track of the hours you spend on fixing up this cottage? I would be interested in knowing when you finish about how many hours went into it. Final question, does your significant other/spouse ever visit your builds to see the work you have done? In our family it is normal that we all know how to do everything, a little more practice at work and here are the results. I am thinking of moving into this house, with my wife, who is coming to supervise the works

It's a fine thing to see a family property come back together again. There was a time when American farms needed hired men for a variety of tasks. Larger farms provided homes for their workers. Along came mechanization and those homes stood empty. My uncles' family had real homes for their working families; not sharecroppers' homes. Later, these were repurposed to store whatever needed storing. (They kept almost everything, from furniture to seasoning wood when trees had to come down.)

I like the way u use grease on the nails an screws cause my husband told me a couple of weeks ago that grease helps them go in wood alot easier. Especially hard wood like oak. I thoght that was oak, and your people's attention to durability and craftmanship is certainly a tradition carried on by you as well! What a stout frame that will be. The walls and cornerstones are in remarkably stable and sound shape. This gorgeous cottage will be good for at least 150+ years for sure when you are done!
