It seems like I have the same window in my basement. I know that one side of the window comes out, but is there a way to remove both windows to bring the materials?

My windows are exactly like yours. I’m not sure if I should be lining up the framing to the window opening or one of those “ridges” your mentioned. What ended up working the best for you? Did you need to add wood later to fill in those gaps?

I just did mine. I ended up going to the bottom ridge the using 3/8 and 1/2 plywood to make up the difference to be able to drywall to the window.

@@mikeglanton210 I was halfway through cutting mine when I saw your notification oddly enough. I ended up effing up and cut a line exactly with the inmost edges. So I need to cut about an inch and a half off each 2x4 stud so the bottom plate is even with the inmost notch. I’m wondering though what is best. Did you find it easy to do from the bottom? Are you saying you stacked two pieces of plywood on top of each other for the finish?

Ended up doing the outer edge. Thanks!

A mitre saw is your best friend when framing. They are not badly price especially if you’re sticking with 2x4 cuts and it’s a tool you will come back to time and time again when you least expect it. If you do need a bigger one for 2x6 or 2x10 you can always rent them. Just make sure you have all your measurements ready so you can cut everything over a weekend to keep that price down.

They say measure twice, cut once...but what’s the fun in that? With wood glue and shims, anything is possible.

A power miter saw made my framing much easier with always very straight cuts.

I've been building house and doing framing for along time you are doing a good job for a first timer. The recommend if you plan on building more invest in a ramset gun makes life alot easier instead of the hammer and Concrete nail lol. Then hey made we can get a good old days table top reviews of that ramset gun lol
