Never heard of Bruno until I saw the fight this morning, got to put this one in the cherry pick gone wrong folder, and that homecoming curse strikes again, Munguia as always been a knock out waiting to happen just didn't think it would be this French fella.

Surace deserves more opportunities for exposing Muingia's leaky defense.

I thought munguia would eventually get KOD just due to him dining out on his chin and having near 50 tough fights...but not by this guy. What an upset! Why i love boxing lol

Upsets like this are one of the reasons why boxing is the toughest game of all. You can win every second of every round, until...

The best p4p French boxer of all time is Marcel Thil, a world champ back in the 40s…boxing is not that popular as a sport in the nation!

France had that decent Cruiserweight Mormeck that David Haye ironed out after a real slugfest🇫🇷

The last French World Champion was Nordine Oubali, if I'm not mistaken. He lost his WBC title to Donaire in 2021.

Joe, was that right hook out of Andy Lee’s old repertoire?
@joestunnerboxing2 күн бұрын
I had't thought of that, but yes, Andy Lee threw a similar type of punch.

GGG showed how good that punch was (and he really threw it well) and I always wondered why you didn't see it used by more fighters especially after GGG used it so often and with effect. I've only occasionally seen a couple of other guys throw it, and none throw it as good as Golovkin.

Great punch from Surace. I thought Mungia responded well and made it to his feet on time. I don’t know what the ref saw to wave it off.

What was you watching? He was out on his feet when he got up! You want to see someone get killed?

I've always told BBR on his livestreams for years that Mungia has a young man's style and when he gets older and goes up in weight he will get exposed. However, I did not expect this kind of upset. He was protected for years by Golden Boy promotions and a reliable Mexican ticket seller.

Reminds me of Ishida knocking out undefeated James Kirkland from Japan and he had like less than 4 ko's on his record
@joestunnerboxing2 күн бұрын
Kirkland always had a lousy chin, but Munguia seemed to hold a shot really well. Maybe Canelo softened him up? Difficult to say.

It’s like that small hairline crack in the windshield It’s going to cave in eventually Munguia has been blocking shots with his face for Years But wow I wasn’t expecting this Upset of the Year

If anyone tells you that they picked Surace then they're lying, and that includes his Mum. Seen some highlights and Munguia was lackadaisical - he was doing the better work but was content to unleash a barrage and then let Surace have his turn. Munguia even backed away with his hands down by his sides almost. Got sloppy and got caught. Just reemphasises what I said the other day after a couple of hotly tipped prospects lost; we sometimes forget that the guy designated 'opponent' has their own skills, and ambitions and may very well come to win, and not just be content with the payday and their supposed role. Take liberties and this sort of thing can happen.

This is why we love boxing Joe. Fantastic win for Surace. I had not heard of him but good for him. Do you think he will now get the Canelo payday? Why not eh?

Canelo would surely smash right through him. Can you imagine if Surace did to Canelo what he did to Munguia? 😄

What took place in that fight was Mr Bruno patient and waited for any open pressure point that came in that six round after Munguia mounted an attack to Bruno at that sent him to the rope but got caught with his left hand down not protected his jaw which should teach all fighters lessons to have respect for everyone stepping in that ring because of what they do for living that is looking for pressure point of the body to have clean shot at which if you at Surace eyes at that rope looking at Munguia retreating with his left hand down which was like you aren't protecting, take thins with you which any fighter doesn't have to be KO artist to deliver fatal blows due to how nature built our body to withstand so much power in certain area of it, that is why fighters have their guard protecting at all time that it was rookie mistake on Munguia part to retreat in such manner that will teach him valuable lesson in the ring that a fighter has to be conscious of their harms position at all time to defend from in coming punches, that is why it is said that we live and learn. There is a view that shows Munguia mouth where it looked like he was vomit came from his mouth after that punch connected. Munguia was having time of his life in that ring knowing that fight to be in his back pocket which those type of clean blows can send another to coma, that is why that arena isn't a nice place to be fighting due to each one working their muscles to weapons that can send the other to kingdom come, but some of very serious injured are kept from fans awareness of that danger poses in the arena but that prize being too great to pass on, that is so many are risking their lives after, only to live some ten to twenty years shorter in their lives.

Not sure if you check KO percetnages on Boxrec, Joe, but I think they fairly recently changed how they predict KO%, and now it's based purely on KOs from wins whereas it used to be KOs from ALL fights....so they've got Surace as having a 19% KO ratio (5 from 26 wins) when really his KO rate is more like 17% (5 KOs from 26W 2D). Obviously it's a minor difference there but on fighters with more fights/losses/KOs it can change things quite a bit. Ie Boxrec says Chisora has a 65% KO rate (23 KOs from 35W) when really it shoudl be 48% (23KOS from 48 fights). I don't know why they changed it but it definitely happened - what's your thoughts on it? For stats I think it should be a percetnage of overall KOs, not wins....maybe could have both categories, just seems weird that they changed it. EDIT: thinking about it, you could have a figher win his first 5 fights by KO, lose 45 afterwards and it'd show him having a 100% KO rate when really it's only 10%....what a dumb system
