Isn’t this the equivalent of the US Speaker of the House? Now if you’re talking about finally getting rid of Macron then we can talk about news!
@RomNYC
@RomNYC 6 сағат бұрын
Not quite. The US Speaker equivalent is the President of the Assemblee Nationale, who only oversees debates and votes, just like the US Speaker. The prime minister in France leads the entire government. The President nominates him/her but does not intervene (at least publicly) in what he/she does. So in this case, we are closer to the US President's equivalent, as he is the one appointing secretaries, who ultimately report to him.

@@RomNYC If the Prime Minister is from the same party of the president he may intervene publicly unless it's a government of cohabitation. France has a semi-presidential form of government. It's not a Westminster style parliamentary republic.
@freespeechenjoyer
@freespeechenjoyer 6 сағат бұрын
No. The simplest way to describe it is the French system has a dual executive, PM and President split executive powers rather than having a singular chief executive like the US. The PM is more beholden to the parliament while the President is more independent and separately elected. The French President can dissolve parliament and hold new elections, if his party wins majority he essentially appoints the PM and he has full control over the executive branch. If that doesn't happen then the President is forced to appoint a PM from a different party, which is known as cohabitation. It would be more like if the US President had to form a new cabinet if their party lost majority in the Senate. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Fifth_Republic

@susanplank1976 The government can still pay taxes and use the money for "Necessary Services" like roads, schools, and hospitals. But I am against the government taking 40% - 60% of my paycheck and spending it on useless things that don't contribute to society or spending hundreds of millions and billions of dollars on illegal migrants. Governments want everyone to be reliant and constantly dependent on the government while the poor stay poor & the rich stay rich through any means necessary. Soocialism, spending billions to make millions for the few. Communism, controling everything at the cost of everyone else.

If Macron goes away, France will be in the path of bankruptcy. The average french lives in their own bubble, they want to enjoy the same benefits like 90’s when it used to be super power. The only thing they could agree on is to increase the taxation of rich people, they think this is the only solution for their life’s misery. French wants to have a beautiful and functioning country without putting any efforts, most of the citizen dont follow rules and regulation unless they are forced to, arabs are trying to live like france is some kind of algeria, tunisia, morocco! Its just horrible and then the rude attitude to everything that they dont know of!

Try some research on your own and you might notice how patriotism is named nationalism and in the same denigration arrives at fascism. Many of those using these terms are just paid tools. If you would make a slight effort to really listen to their "reporting" you will realize it's not neutral as real journalism should be and you might sense the subtle propaganda.

I don’t understand the function of a PM if you have a president. It seems that the president is running the country, so is the PM really a VP?
@stewiesaidthat
@stewiesaidthat 6 сағат бұрын
France is semi-presidential, aka, shared power. There is a head of State and a head of Government. The Prime Minister is appointed by the Head of State who is elected by popular vote. In your case, the PM would be equivalent to the VP but with more power/responsibilities.
@George-tx6pl
@George-tx6pl 6 сағат бұрын
In many European countries the PM is nominated by the president and has more decision making power than the President, who acts more like a neutral mediator between various parties that make a coalition majority. I hope that helps.
