Well yeah, if you create a game that has harder execution than all other fighting games, you cannot translate learned skills. This is not a good thing mind you. It automatically makes the game less popular because it feels so foreign.

A grand total of zero other fighting game franchises have a similar barrier of entry, most of which are vastly more popular partially for this reason alone. It's not about beating 15-20 year olds. There's many 15-30 year old players that have the minds of a 10 year old, you see them all the time online in SF4, Marvel, SfxT, etc. They are just terrible players and the accomplishment here wasn't that this 10 year old was beating 15-30 year olds. The accomplishment is that this 10 year old had the level of play and ability to beat other TOP players of Morocco...and not just to beat them but to make them look like children.
