Burning wood is very polluting! In my American state there are strict laws against burning wood in fireplaces.

I wondered the same. Wood burning stoves are banned in Perth because of the pollution they create and this is a very windy place that disperses it reasonably quickly. Really surprised that such a high percentage is simply burnt.
