I love France 24's fluff pieces on France and French culture. They're really educational, and also I can't help but have a chuckle at how stereotypically French they can be. I never knew about the "not chopping off the nose" thing. Will keep that in mind next time I've got a wedge of brie

I'm french (and curious of how these "french connections" shows depict us) and I have to say, it's always very true but also very much on the posh side. I never even heard of this "not chopping off the nose" thing, most people don't strictly follow the etiquette rules.

@@TheGameLecturer Same here, I've never heard about that rule. I'll keep chopping off that nose, I don't care ! 😅😂😂

Same here we don't care about that nose thing but it's still a bit complicated. You cut the nose 'cause it's more practical but then it's preferable to cut on the long side cause the end is not the best.

So foreign news channels made for American audiences are usually “secretly” run by the country’s intelligence agency, like RT (Russia Times) is funded by and receives direction from the KGB. You think the case is the same here? With puff pieces like this, I certainly do.

Yes cheese is a national obsession here in France, when I tell people my job is cheese making I get the nod of approval even though I am British. I live in the Poitou-Charente region where goat's milk cheese is king. Even the school canteens serve a cheese course.

+Lagnaf Irby Most of France24's news is news. This is just a special they do every so often (in fact, I forget they do these because of all the news stories). If they played just news all the time, they would be as boring as you, and seemingly complaining at everything.

I wish America could appreciate food like the French do. I've had experience with this with ma famille d'accuille (French for host family) who I stayed with in Grenoble and if there was anything that I would do to disrespect food manners she would mock me for it. That's how keen the French are with food manners and appreciation.

Don't eat the rind of any cheese. For instance eating the rind of a comté is the equivalent of eating the peel of your banana, it won't kill you but you just don't because it's not made to be eatable.

Wow......the contaminatio!! It's a wonder that France or any other country for that matter would ever get by, selling to their own, much less exporting a food product that has had another person's mouth (2:31) on it, first. How does France get by on this?
@k.v.7681
@k.v.7681 5 жыл бұрын
Well they keep it going by exporting to other european countries, and producing small. Most of the times, we are talking about familly businesses with hard working people keeping tradition alive. That also explains why some cheeses can be quite expensive. Unpastorized milk is safe for most people, as long as you preserve the cold temperature from production to sale, and manipulate it in sterile environments. We don't serve it to small children. As for the man's mouth: it's on the outside of a greased cloth, so no need to worry.
