This must be evaluated from situation to situation. Being weaker does also not get you into a very good position in case of armed conflict. Sometimes not being a threat is the better survival strategy, sometimes fighting back is the better one. The trouble is to decide what are the signs of the time.

Yes the Druze deserve Israel weapons and technology. As an American Jew who has a son living in Israel, I know about the Druze bravery on the battlefield and their loyalty to the State. If Israel turns their back on them, I will be really pissed. Israel should annex the southern Golan Heights and then create an autonomous protectorate around the Druze villages in the other areas. I know that the Druze do not want their own nation state because of their religion but they really should get over that theology just like the Jews got over our stupid waiting for the messiah to establish a state theology. IMO minority religions like the Jews and Druze put these concepts in their theology not to upset the majority faith. Its just wrong.

Druze were always powerful minority in part because of them being armed,living in the mountains and I don’t think it has anything to do with hostility on contrary,they just want to be able to live in quite and defend themselves from violent man.Al Nusra(Now HTS)and other Islamists in past did car bombing,kidnapping and attacking thier villages and people,this is why there is some distrust. In this regard Israel got pleas from all minorities in Syria for help,Israel will stand for the minorities in Syria,regardless of they feeling about Israel specifically(some less some more)Alawites,Christians,Druze and Kurds have to have freedom to live quietly without the fear of being persecuted.

They should give up the weapons. This has nothing to do with personal gun ownership and the fact the government should be the sole owner of military equipment. This is being required of all of the armed rebel factions. No government would properly form with a bunch of different armed factions owning territory and making their own rules. The US government controls and owns all the weapons of their military.
