Like usual, Mike is a real fan who understands Yankees fans. The point about George is key. If he was still alive there would have been major change after these failures against Houston in the playoffs. He would not have accepted being 2nd best to the Astros for 6 years straight. His son is just not built like his father. For all his faults, you knew George cared about winning above all else. Hal is more interested in the balance sheet year to year, even though the value of the team is probably more than $6-$7 billion by now.

Mike I had followed your original show with Mad Dog since the show began. Although i do agree with you that fans should be respected for spending the money and have every right to boo and have opinion on the team. However, we as Yankees Fans are spoiled and failed to get the message of the post George Steinbrenner era NY Yankees. This ownership is not the same and have a budget and different system of doing things. Like a top Rookie QB this new ownership (YES Hal Steinbrenner is a new ownership), are finding themselves on how to build a winning team. they focused too much on statistics. With all due respect to Mariano and Jeter and they are right, you win you get love you lose you get boos that is the way the cake crumbles, but they have no ideas on how to build a team. They hired Sabian, Maniaya and focused on bettering the scouting and development staffs. Cashman may not be a perfect General Manager, he is a HOF GM and don't forget that. Jeter and Mariano have personal Grouge with Cashman and rightfully so. He is like a hated school Principal who is sticked on you for the betterment of the "institution" but he definetly has his reasons. to win you have to be Methotical and Cashman is that. he did prove that he is not afriade of change, he basically hired men who are cable in replacing him. who has the guts to do so. I know i don't have it. DO YOU?

Sure, the Yankees haven't won since 2009 but it's not like they've been bad. They're always relevant and always in the mix, even for those few years when they turned over the roster. Sit through a few 77-85 seasons where you're irrelevant and have no hope and get back to me. Those types of seasons take forever to end; the Mets specialized in seasons like that. The players won't have to worry about booing then because that's when the ballpark won't be filled. But they're the Yankees and that hasn't happened since the early 90s.
