The legendary 48-AL shotgun has stood the test of time and continues to impress hunters and shooters alike. The 48-AL is at home in any situation and is a dream to carry in the field at just over 5 pounds.

Have one that's been in the family for over 50 years. This gun is a machine to say the least.

Picked up a 12 gauge in this model for $300 at a gun show last week. Shoots great and I love it so far.

Ironically it's guys like you that made Franchi discontinue the 48al....Nobody's interested in a new in box Franchi if they can buy a used one for $300....

I have a 1957 Franchi 48AL that I inherited from family. It's my favorite shotgun, and it's so light and points so quick that it could be my only firearm if I had to choose one. My only wish would be interchangeable chokes but the 'improved-mod' choke on it doesn't really harm me since I'm not a turkey or skeet shooter.

Take the 48AL to your local gunsmith and he can install threads in the front of the barrel to except the Benelli Choke Tubes, flush mount or extended like I did? They work great and gives you that little bit of an extended reach!

@@boywhohasl1vedhascometodie469 One can get a Franchi 48-AL for an affordable price in excellent to like-new condition that's less than a decade old. It'll come with interchangeable Beretta Mobil choke tubes and can safely fire the full gambit of modern hunting ammo. It's plenty reliable for the average joe and what they'll put it through. It is also about 1.25lbs lighter than an Auto-5 that will be significantly older, much more expensive, most likely lacking interchangeable chokes, and can't shoot a lot of modern non-toxic ammunition.

Does the barrel retracting help with recoil? Does it affect accuracy at all? Might get this as a clay gun.
@michaeldelrossi4487
@michaeldelrossi4487 6 жыл бұрын
Forget it as a clays gun it has too much upward lift. Maybe if it were ported it would be Okay, but the way it is not a chance! It hits 50% over your target, not great odds?

This is another, phenomenal 'John Moses Browning' invention! It's the same blueprints from his "auto loading A5" design; just this Italian company was allowed to build it for several years, and they did a great job in doing so! - (I own one, it's very nice and very much worth having!)

Depends on the ring settings and how much ballistol you smear on the magazine tube. Due to the long recoil, instead of a short sharp kick (like with a regular break-action shotgun) you'll experience a 'rolling kick'. Fire it with a dry tube, and the kick gets much fiercer.
@vgnlda
@vgnlda 3 жыл бұрын
@@YaoiMastah Magazine tube is not meant to be lubricated. This damages the gun. Just use the correct side of the brake on a dry magazine. Or change the load, this also works.

@cs-rj8ru
@cs-rj8ru 3 жыл бұрын
They don't kick like a mule if you know how to set them up. I shoot mine regularly with heavy loads. It's a very light recoil. I'd dare say equal to the 20ga 1100. Most that own them and complain of recoil either set the rings up incorrectly or OIL the magazine tube. IF you do either of those they'll kick the snot out of you.
