On August 28, 1976 my family and I arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport. We came from Santiago, Chile and the only one who spoke about 20% English was my father. Life then was an extreme struggle. Not only did we have to deal with a language barrier but we also had to deal with racism. Being Hispanic was as popular as warm beer on a hot summer day back then. I was bullied everyday from all walks of life. Being Hispanic meant that you had the low paying jobs and were treated unfairly. Fast forward to today........ Hispanic men and women are everywhere in life. We have become powerful, educated and worldly. I say to you Francia...... keep going strong and when you have children of your own let them know that being Hispanic is OK. Educate them and point them forward so they can keep the Hispanic heritage of family going strong. I am over joyed to see that you have learned to accept yourself as a Latina. Never feel ashamed for who you are. Your father was correct to have taught you to be a strong Latina women. Aloha.

(this is a copy of another video comment I made and it makes sense) Yet, Latinos remain separated and dislike one another. You can all praise what Cecilia said, but even within the Mexican community or people, there remains a huge gap of differences that they keep beating each other up with. The community I see that somewhat unite are "Caribbean" people. Everyone in that area of Latin America want to be like Puerto Ricans, yet, Puerto Ricans overall just care for themselves. But the other "Caribbean" countries want to be like them seemingly so desperately they blind themselves to their prejudices. "Caribbean" people hardly give a rats ass about Mexicans or most other Latinos. You support them, namely through their music, because you think (?) it's cool and the obvious thing to do. You couldn't be more wrong than wrongs summit. Not so long ago, J Balvin said 'There is no Latin Grammy's without reggaeton.' So this year the Latin Grammy's only included reggaeton "artists" and dismissed the actual talents, as those from previous years. J Balvin, as most reggaeton/trap "artists," are prejudice, racist bigots, namely towards those Latinos whose music they don't really like: the actual talents. But you will all ignore this fact, case history and evidence, because you are too weak. Pitbull inspired Cecilia? What hardships has he experienced in the music business? THIS IS FOR TRUE MEXICANS AND MOST OTHER TRUE LATINO AMERICANS (when I say true I mean you see yourself AS LATINO, not White or Black, but as Latino and also of Mestizo background): support USA artists of this true Latino background. It is fro the USA where most of the rest of the word pick up on trends and likes. It is THE USA Entertainment world that speaks to them. Movies, TV and music. And, when was the last time such a Latino was a lead role in a Huge box-office hit? Or huge TV show? They've tried and tried but guess what? The prejudice, racist masses don't want it, them, and I don't mean only White people are racists: all races are. Are you that weak to face this truth? Are that much of a chump that you don't mind being a pushover and being swept under the rug? You don't mind the bread crumbs while White and Blacks, and now maybe East Asians get the all the goods? Are you all that weak? Scared to say who you are and that you like certain Latino names' music, TV shows, movies? You don't have to throw it on peoples faces, just friggin' support your background, ethnicity, nationality, along with whatever other singers, actors you like. It's easy to support good looks, most people actually have favorites because of their good looks, but most Latino people re NOT in the same boat. You know the name Rita Hayworth? One of the most beautiful women of the famous WW2 pin-up girls era, and an actress. Yet, that was not her real name. So looks DON'T matter when it comes to most Latinos. You the name Anthony Quinn? Famous actor, but had he gone with his Mexican/Latino name, you THINK he would have been successful? I am sure you know Bruno Mars is not Brunos real name, right? Look up why he changed his name. Also Anthony Pettis. The "Xtina vs Britney" years. Guess who won the sales? Not the better talent. You know who Allison Iraheta is? 4th runner-up on American Idol's 9th season, I think, 2009 I think, and she had an Outstanding catchy, BBtop 10 worthy single (and music video) but guess what? Even with MUCH promotion and exhibition, and a follow up Great album, NOTHING. She flopped. "Caribbean" people are liked overall because Black Americans like them, but the rest of the Latino community are targets of hate, racism/prejudice/bigotry. "Racism?" some will say? Anyone who is a bigot, is bound to be racist. So: WHAT TO DO. What will you? Keep being shoved over? You think having a degree will help you? It will help you, but only in your circle of friends, otherwise the great masses wont give a crap about or for you. SO: WHAT TO DO. Step aside from trends, from what you have been brainwashed with. Take a step back. Think: 'Can I have some balls?' 'Do I have it in me to like some other Latino-American artists?' THE ANSWER IS YES, YOU CAN AND YOU DO. You simply must do it. START SUPPORTING SELENA GOMEZ. That's a start! "But Selena doesn't even speak Spanish?" some will say. Guess what, neither did Selena Perez. "But she's fake" some will say. Yet, when White and Black singers speak Spanish in their songs NO ONE hates them for it, instead they are loved and praised. You have been brainwashed by racists to hate or dislike your own. In effect, most Latinos and Latino Americans are at the bottom of the barrel, the bottom of all things because you are push overs. START MAKING YOUR MINDS UP. Start supporting American/USA Pop singer(s), namely Selena Gomez. Reggaeton WONT Help any cause for the rest of Latinos. Support Selena Gomez because she deserves it. The hate on her started in the "Selena vs Miley" days ad that hate, or racism, has grown since. Support Selena Gomez no matter what racists say. Many singers or rappers have HUGE hits even though it's crap music, but they can fart in glass bottles, set them on fire, add it to their music and they will be called genius. But, MEXICANS AND MOST OTHER LATINOS HAVE TO BEND OVER BACKWARDS, DO A FROG SPLIT AND HEAD SPIN ALL THE SAME TIME FOR ANY RECOGNITION. Wake up, Latino people. Stop being told what and who to like. Have a brain and use it. And, if you are a thug, or a "man," or must "street cred," you need to wake up, too. Everyone else is going to college, cleaning up, and you are being left behind. You can start by teaching your young ones, little brothers, sisters, cousins, etc., or of ANY age family members, to start STREAMING "ICE CREAM," SELENA'S RECENT "RARE" ALBUM, AND ANY UPCOMING MUSIC OF HERS. WATCH HER HBO COOKING WITH SELENA, BUT HER "RARE" MAKE-UP, AND SUPPORT HER UPCOMING PROJECTS. Buy Pantene and Puma. Just do it. If you think Selena is friends with Taylor and Taylor is too White, guess what: Taylor Swift is supported by many. Look at Justin Bieber: no one cares that he's a racist, and Black people still support him. The examples go on and on. Looks don't matter. Race doesn't matter. Etc., until one is of certain Latino background then the masses don't like you. Stand up, Latinos. Stop being push overs. When artists like Selena Gomez has more success, the massive racism towards the overall Latino/Spanish name WILL back up a little.

@American Woman uhhhm no? Can you tell me what your definition of racist is? Systematic and structural racism is only slowly on its way out the door. And please don't tell me Hollywood is inclusive. @T B So, slavery in the USA, Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia, didn't happen? Native Americans were not enslaved earlier on, nor were murdered, cheated out, lied to, their women raped, etc? Mexicans weren't heavily mistreated late in the 1800's and most of the 1900s? India's Untouchables.., China's peasants, the poor in EVERY country world wide mistreated? This was all very recent, and some are current. This has all happened and continues to happen. There is playing victim but the simple and obvious facts. The rich are getting richer, the overly proud are getting prouder, and that leaves space for all things bias and prejudice. It exists, but racists themselves are in denial. Racists exist in All races and backgrounds, so I am not saying only "Whites" are.
