That part 😮😞… Its definitely not how the situation should have been handled. I am a living kidney donor coordinator, the correct procedure is that the match results should be relayed to the donor. Giving the results to the potential donor first means you allow them time to absorb the news, and decide how to move forward in a protected, no pressure zone. We also encourage the donor to be the one to relay the news to the intended recipient.

FirstJune yeah its shocking but Francia said in another video that donors are told before the surgery that its not going to be their kidney anymore and they have to accept that and let go any anger you might have at the recipient not really taking care of themselves after they get it needs to be let go. Also selena needs to wake up before reality hits her she needs to stop drinking and being too busy slow down because she even said she wasnt taking good care of herself before the transplant but it looks like she hasnt changed much since then. Hanna The hospital is suppose to tell the donor first, and they have to give consent for the receiver to know. So if donor didn’t want to go through with it, the hospital can tell the receiver it wasn’t a match. This way it doesn’t put pressure on donor. This is why it’s hard to say no.

Well, you're about to go to dialysis, needing an urgent transplant. The hospital calls you telling you that you and your friend- who probably already confirmed to be giving the kidney- are a match , that you are given a kidney and a chance and that you're going to be saved. What would you do? I would call that friend, to tell her i know and that i'm happy and grateful, not to pressure them in any way, cause if Francia wasn't sure about giving her the kidney, the Hospital wouldn't have called Selena to tell her, that's the law. The fact that Francia needed more time is right, she needed to be the one who spoke first, but, if you find out you're not about to die anymore, i think it's understandable to be a little too excited. Yeah same here. My father has had a transplant and I've seen how difficult and painful the recovery is for both the donor and the recipient. I don't think I'd do it for anyone other than my brother or my parents.
