Legit emphasis: I used to pastor a church in Belgium and it was so LIT! although we had people from 35 countries and our music for worship was not highly excellent, BECAUSE the people really loved one another and were very strongly united ( including white skinned republican Americans and former Muslims from Afghanistan and Iraq) our times of worship were on fire, we constantly focused on Colossians 3:16-17; ( priesthood of all believers) and evangelism which was the supernatural overflow of ordinary daily life.

Pastor Chan truly has the mind of Christ. I praise God for him and his family. Mega churches with their prosperity message are destroying the beautiful image of Christ in the eyes of a suffering and dying world. Small groups of believers who love Christ and each other and are committed to spreading the saving Gospel is the model the early church left for us. There are people who go to church every Sunday and they are still hungry for the truth because it is not preached by their pastors. I hope more Pastors catch on and help carry this movement. It is perfectly aligned with the bible. May God bless and strengthen all the church leaders who genuinely care about God's children.

Brother Chan is call you to examine the scriptures and to test the spirits. How can you argue with that? That is wisdom. The prosperity gospel is an anti-gospel that puts people in bondage to false hope and makes people the center of their worship rather than God. Keep listening to brother Chan and ask God (not your feelings) to confirm that he is either speaking truth or not. There is a lot at stake here!

God is good to have led me to this as it answers a great cry in my own heart. I have been searching for a church for years and it's come to me that what I seek is authentic love where we stay and support one another. Because I already do get fed from the Word and in prayer daily, because I am evangelizing everywhere (because it's just who I am), so my need is not for a "show". This is definitely great great stuff. Though the ROI model appeals to me as a business woman, it is also true that Jesus went after the one and left the 99, which isn't a really smart move and doesn't fit that model, so perhaps it doesn't always hold. He'll work with a church worth billions. However, I cannot help but think and agree He is very interested in 30, 60 and hundredfold returns. Yet this is not at all the only theme of this video or this movement. It's about LOVE, it's about staying alive in Christ and being a new creature, not conforming to this world. Even if you do marry and have kids, you must not go backwards, you must and you can trust Him for provision all the more. Interesting that after watching this I went somewhere and on the radio was a powerful sermon about the church of Philadelphia. Is God speaking or what?!? However, I'm still hopeful that a large church can accomplish this when done right. I'm giving it a little more time but maybe, who knows, I may pack up and move to SF area. Bless you, We Are Church.

Great stuff. The Church, in America, especially, needs to wake up, open the Word, and align what we do with what the Bible says we are to do. I think Francis' vision of that is spot on here.

From 28:00 to 29:00, this is my experience of every church I've gone to (and I've tried dozens). No matter how spiritual the pastor is, no matter how great the band is, the congregation is passive, takes what they need from the sermon and then leave. An "outsider" like me is not welcomed other than the most superficial effort. Yes, some of these folks do lots of volunteer work (as I did there), but I was still treated like an "outsider." Where's the love? Where's the love as it's described in the Book? It's depressing and it's why I left my church (and the next one I attended). Francis Chan talks about responsibility, but many of the "followers" are passive takers rather than givers.

i wonder if this love people suddenly have for each other is deep and authentic. i wonder how many people who havent been groomed to love will bring their worldliness into the church and suddenly be in charge of shepherding people. The church structure is broken but i think more of an emphasis needs to be put on loving each other and less on just reaching a certain number of people. Growth without a solid foundation is bound to collapse on itself.
@lealeandre10639 жыл бұрын
taiishine "i wonder if this love people suddenly have for each other is deep and authentic" I can appreciate your skepticism because in general the people who like to take a lot of pride in the fact that they are Christians seldom demonstrate Christian values in their daily interactions with others. I can assure you that this love Pastor Chan is speaking of is real because I have experienced it from the wonderful Christian friends the Lord has blessed me with. It is so real you can almost see God in the kind words and actions of the people who truly have given themselves to God. People cannot be groomed to experience this kind of love. Only God can change the heart of a willing person so that he can experience that love. As a result of experiencing that love, he will be able to love others genuinely. Remember the bible's definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude; it does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends."Peace and blessings to you!

I love Francis' emphasis on supernatural LOVE! That's what we're supposed to be about as the body of Christ. Anyone who watched this clip and came away with the idea that he's about numbers and growth really missed the point. It's about each believer operating in their gifts and anointing to BE ministers - active participants in the gospel, rather than passive recipients. The goal isn't to get numerical results...it's to get spiritual results, which looks like people being mobilized to spread the good news. The natural outgrowth of this (biblical) model is to experience numerical increase. We see this is the book of Acts - the believers were empowered by the Spirit, they were bold witnesses for Jesus Christ, the supernatural love and generosity of God flowed through them, miracles took place, and the church exploded. Man, I want that!

Fans vs Followers. We all have a ministry of reconciliation. We left the building where the fans gather a few minutes a week to count nickels and noses. We were never called to be entertained or served. We left to do the Acts stuff of following Jesus in this season when the divided denominated popular "church" has become lost in the voices shouting "We are the one he loves" while Satan laughs at our lack of unity and silly divisions. If your congregation is meeting the needs of the "Least of these" of your community and "Doing the Acts stuff" may God bless every effort. Use the gifts of our great God given to you where you stand. Listen to His voice. Follow Jesus not religion. How do you use your gifts?

I agree with the spirit of this message, for Francis Chan is always so sincere and wanting us to deepen in our faith. However, Ephesians 4:11-16 does not seem to agree with his premise that we *all* should be able to start a little home church (even women) and feed others. Why do we need evangelists and pastors and teachers, if we are *ALL* supposed to do that job and raise up new, little churches? Ephesians 4:11 says, "And He (Christ-SC) gave SOME as evangelists and SOME as pastors and teachers." What was/is their purpose? Was it not to equip the saints for 'the work of service?' What kind of service? Preaching/teaching/training only? What about I Corinthians 12:12-29 and Romans 12:4-8?? This last is particularly applicable, for it breaks down the various functions that need to be in the church as well as pointing out that some have one (or several) natural talents/gifts for different kinds of help or service in the body of Christ. Some, of course, prophesy or preach or teach or exhort. Others, though physically serve others, not just as official "deacons" in the church, but just loving acts of service, mowing an elderly widow's lawn, taking food to the sick or new mothers, helping the sick. Others, who are blessed with prosperity or even are poor but sacrificially generous, give to those in the body whose need is great. Others have the gift of "administration." This means, if there is an evangelistic outreach or a church fellowship dinner, some men/ladies are naturally talented to make sure all those who are serving or contributing or teaching have the well-organized supplies/ timeframe that they need. We now have sound system guys. Not everyone has great reading comprehension or have any clue how to use a concordance to deeply understand some great Bible subject. But, they can be a good example to their neighbors, not trying to choke the Good News down an unwilling throat, but opening hearts through acts of kindness, perhaps just inviting them to a Bible study, where a talented Bible teacher can lead them to a saving knowledge of Christ. This dear man is so sincere, but he needs to deepen in some Bible knowledge to understand the "bigger picture" in the Body of Christ. Also, there is NOTHING WRONG with there being a large church where many can be drawn in. There was one in Antioch, in the Book of Acts. Historians say there came to be about 3,000 people in that church. The very first church was 3,00, then well over 5,000 people, perhaps closer to 1,000! (Acts 2:41; Acts 4:4; 5:14) Let's try to be like the Bereans, even with such a popular, great preacher as Francis Chan! (Acts 17:11)

I love to hear Chan preach and he is very charming and charismatic man. Lord help us to have discernment. Chan is a follower of Piper.....One of the preeminent Calvinist of our time. His belief and Chan’s which is the Calvinist belief 5 points TULIP) Only for the predestined from before time “the elect” go to heaven. The non elect.predestined before time are damned to hell and torment and their is nothing they can do about it. God hates them. And hopefully you are not one of the deceived and not “really” saved because you will be damned to hell no matter how much you pray or beg because God determined from before time you would be damned. As Calvinist use this scripture for proof “Jacob I loved, Esau I hated”. Jesus did not die for the sin of the world so that whosoever believes will have everlasting life. As He said He did. He really meant something else. He only died for “the elect” and the non elect whom God hates from before time be damned. And yes babies being predestined by God to be either “the elect” or “non elect” would go to hell because they were predestined to it. This God does to show His Glory. Brothers and sisters use discernment when opening yourself up to these people. They turn God into something you would not recognize. Let the Holy Spirit move in you and reveal the true love of God. Piper, Chan are great charismatic people. Look deeper. Christ died for all as He said He did. My God IS Love. Go and tell ALL people what Christ has done for them. God says I do not want any to perish. May the love of Christ Jesus be with you and in you

I notice in the bible that whenever the apostle Paul writes a letter that he does not address himself as Apostle Paul, or when writing about Peter he Just says Peter, not Apostle Peter. They did not wear their calling ,gift as a title. Jesus told us to call no man teacher, you have one the Christ. Why do Pastors love to be address by their calling, when our Lord said we are all brethren. Let me remind Pastors in love its not your congregation but Jesus,s. It,s not your church but his.The reason we have weak Christians is because Pastors have taken upon themselves (not all, but most) to be Apostle , Prophet, pastor, Teacher and Evangelist, and every other gift that is spoken of in the bible. Tell me which one of the five fold ministries is to lead? I do not see the Pastor being singled out as the leader. Whoever wants to be greatest of all should be servant of all, not Lord it over everyone.They are stealing from the flock by not allowing the brethren to operate in their callings and gifts. Know wonder The brethren do not grow up be causes the Moses (old testament)i.e Pastors of today are the only ones hearing from God while the people stand afar off. Unfortunately they are enabled by us when we are lazy. Its is sad but Jesus said this would happen. Brake the York off Yourself and read the Bible it will blow your mind. The Holy Spirit will teach you. Stop reading about other peoples revelations and get your own. You will never grow on someone elses revelation.

Simple...they WORK! We must stop thinking of Pastors as paid-employees. You must have missed the part where he states everyone (Pastors & Elders included) are laypeople & the overhead cost is ZERO...which means no salaries, no buildings, no assets because it is all done as a labor of love within personal homes. It's easy to multiply & split each year if there are no hierarchies, salaries, or structures to support...so 100% of the offerings truly go to missions & the needy instead of the measly crumbs left over after the leadership fills their bellies. Ministry is no longer ministry when salaries become involved...salary equals business...ministry is always selfless & voluntary. The Gospel is free...you don't charge God's people or sinners for it. Work for your bread & labor for souls but never confuse the two.

A problem that I see with Francis is that he can't actually teach people or help them in their own ministries until he's mature in his own. Not only that, but he's actually not equipped to help people understand or walk in certain callings out gifts because he has no understanding in them. But his longing is encouraging.
