Can someone honestly name someone who's a better role model than Ngannou? Never had a personal controversy, always calm and respectful, came from less than nothing, went through hell and back to get out of Africa, learned a completely new sport in a few months, started competing at the highest level, lost against the champion, lost his comeback fight, then went on to obliterate everyone in his path, became the UFC HW champion, brought the belt back to Africa and stopped at the sand mines he worked at when he was a kid to give a hand. Fought the Man, never gave up on his ideas of fair compensation for EVERYONE and not just himself, got ridiculed for sticking to his values,, fought out of his contract, got a boxing fight against the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time, was dismissed by everyone, almost beat Fury, got generational wealth out of two boxing fights, and he's now fighting through the most awful pain a parent can feel. And he will come out of this stronger than ever, and we will love and respect anything he decides to do because he just fucking deserves the world. Big love Francis, you're such a huge inspiration

I had a 2 and half journey back from Wales and when this video popped up. I knew it would be gold. Tears all the way down the M4 and when he gets to the part about his son 😢😢😢 What a tragedy, even after he asks Steve to move on, Francis comes back to the loss of his son. He explains how he uses the loss of his son as inspiration and motivation to fight on. Heart wrenches and turning into his emotions is so difficult. Feels like hes going to fight on, its all his done all his life. I cant help but think about his sentiments of The Perfect Table. Such grief and the notion of therapy... he doesnt see the point. But this interview and Steves style gave him the space. What an interview. What a story. By the time I got to Oxford. I had to wipe my eyes. Fighting is all he knows. Pushing thru is all he knows. Prays go up for him and his family. Thank you to all the team.❤

My son died as well at a very young age, they never found anything wrong. He was perfect, no genetic diseases, no illness. They have no idea why he passed away. You get no answers, then you go through scenarios and its very bad for your mental health, they say time heals but its been 5 years and it still comes and hurts any time of the day. I live for my son. I don't fear death, I actually embrace death, if I feel like my heart is about to stop I dont panic, because if there is a small chance I can see him again I embrace that, and when I don't die, I live my best happiest life, I do things I want to do. I help people because that makes me feel good, because in the end its either eternal life or nothing and I am fine with anything in between, win win for me.

Yeah even being an Atheist like me, yet Animist still no one knows what's on the other side even concluding that probably nothing happens, and souls even the ones we hate (that we could love in other circumstances) we likely go all at same place or same void = we simply die and cease to exist...the fact that thousands of generations before us kept moving forward with our species, the absolute unknown surrounding God, what the Universe means, etc we can still have that last thought that we'll be reunited with people we love that passed away.

Can you imagine this ,it happens daily many die ,infections, illness, drinking sea water, no food ,non sanitary conditions ,mental health. They would rather die just for a chance to work and eat daily in another country. Just the basics to live. On top of this racism and hate ,the country blames you for ruining their country. Human being just want to live. I boy said to me ,the pain of not able to see your mum eat ,you can't get it out of your head. So they risk there lifes for basics. We then people turn around and hate them for wanting what you have THINK ABOUT IT.

Write Francis' story and you can relate with the journey's facts. They surely can make a multimillion production movie or tv series "biography of Francis" because from start to finish it's BONKERS, action packed and long patience/survival silences. This is as massive a story can be. Doesn't matter it promotes unlawful acts, illegal immigration, rise of the African poverty. Francis has changed people's perception about starting any endeavor later in life. In only ten years, he went from novice to champion in a difficult sport like the MMA.

He does put things in perspective. Every time I swear about my big Callaway TT Corvette problems because a garage blown my engine, I was left to pull all out from the engine bay (like a Mitsubishi 3000GT V6 TT, my V8TT is bonkers tight and complex), then upon 1st start I sent to another garage to finalize leaks, troubleshoot minor stuff cause I was fed up over 120hrs in the car, logistics, while I have my career not related, etc. BOTTOM LINE simply have to watch Francis accounts to feel like my life is FKIN SMOOTH MAN!!! What an amazing character 🐻‍❄

This is incredibly inspiring. I also want to bring awareness to the fact that many people, including my parents, crossed borders like Francis. My parents crossed borders with two kids when I was just one year old. We have so many heroes around us who never get the chance to be interviewed. Thank you again for this beautiful, inspiring story. ❤

Francis is an example of what it looks like when you truly take responsibility for your life… what an inspiration. A survivor to a thriver. Putting all that aside, when you truly love someone and loose them, the world gets divided into two; those who know grief, and those who don’t. It never goes away, just the gaps between the devastating spaces get bigger. R.E.S.P.E.C.T FRANCIS through all that, you still have dignity and a big heart.

This is why I love DOAC and the great work being done by Steve and this team. Before listening to this story, I had no clue who Francie Ngannou was (forgive me all those MMA and Boxing fans); but his story is one that anyone can admire. There are soo many people that say they grow up in poverty, but never experienced anything remotely close to what this man has done through. Having the right motivation can lead you to accomplish everything that you want to. "My dream was too big to give up" Unfortunately for every Francis Ngannou, there are 1000s of unknown people that we will never know about that went through the same struggle. Amazing story, but made me think about all those others who will never make it.

He is such a calm person! Wow! So many valuable lessons from him about life, struggle interpretation and move on while you literally have nothing. He started from zero! But, how calm he is! I'm impressed! Nowadays whenever checking social media, everyone screaming about everything they believe/voicing for regardless a less famous or highly popular influencer/celebrity. He is very different. I didn't even know his name until this podcast, hearing first time giving me hope and another level of respect for him. I gotta google him and see his boxing matches!
