Can someone honestly name someone who's a better role model than Ngannou? Never had a personal controversy, always calm and respectful, came from less than nothing, went through hell and back to get out of Africa, learned a completely new sport in a few months, started competing at the highest level, lost against the champion, lost his comeback fight, then went on to obliterate everyone in his path, became the UFC HW champion, brought the belt back to Africa and stopped at the sand mines he worked at when he was a kid to give a hand. Fought the Man, never gave up on his ideas of fair compensation for EVERYONE and not just himself, got ridiculed for sticking to his values,, fought out of his contract, got a boxing fight against the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time, was dismissed by everyone, almost beat Fury, got generational wealth out of two boxing fights, and he's now fighting through the most awful pain a parent can feel. And he will come out of this stronger than ever, and we will love and respect anything he decides to do because he just fucking deserves the world. Big love Francis, you're such a huge inspiration

Tears all the way down the M4 and when he gets to the part about his son 😢😢😢 What a tragedy, even after he asks Steve to move on, Francis comes back to the loss of his son. He explains how he uses the loss of his son as inspiration and motivation to fight on. Heart wrenches and turning into his emotions is so difficult. Feels like hes going to fight on, its all his done all his life. I cant help but think about his sentiments of The Perfect Table. Such grief and the notion of therapy... he doesnt see the point. But this interview and Steves style gave him the space. What an interview. What a story. By the time I got to Oxford. I had to wipe my eyes. Fighting is all he knows. Pushing thru is all he knows. My son died as well at a very young age, they never found anything wrong. He was perfect, no genetic diseases, no illness. They have no idea why he passed away. You get no answers, then you go through scenarios and its very bad for your mental health, they say time heals but its been 5 years and it still comes and hurts any time of the day. I live for my son. I don't fear death, I actually embrace death, if I feel like my heart is about to stop I dont panic, because if there is a small chance I can see him again I embrace that, and when I don't die, I live my best happiest life, I do things I want to do. I help people because that makes me feel good, because in the end its either eternal life or nothing and I am fine with anything in between, win win for me.

Before listening to this story, I had no clue who Francie Ngannou was (forgive me all those MMA and Boxing fans); but his story is one that anyone can admire. There are soo many people that say they grow up in poverty, but never experienced anything remotely close to what this man has done through. Having the right motivation can lead you to accomplish everything that you want to. "My dream was too big to give up" Unfortunately for every Francis Ngannou, there are 1000s of unknown people that we will never know about that went through the same struggle. Amazing story, but made me think about all those others who will never make it.

Fav quote from this ep 2:05:49 "So whatever you have, keep trying. It might work, it might not. But atleast you'll be in peace with yourself knowing that you have given it your all." Immediately going to my codes for life. Words to live by!

I am only nearly half way through this video and I have so many mixed emotions - sad, surprised, motivated, happy. What a right time for you to introduce Ngannou’s story to the world, especially to UK. I hope most of us in UK watch this.

Francis is an example of what it looks like when you truly take responsibility for your life… what an inspiration. A survivor to a thriver. Putting all that aside, when you truly love someone and loose them, the world gets divided into two; those who know grief, and those who don’t. It never goes away, just the gaps between the devastating spaces get bigger. R.E.S.P.E.C.T FRANCIS through all that, you still have dignity and a big heart.

Steve, thank you for having Francis share this powerful story with us. It's a perfect example of how a big dream can fuel incredible perseverance. As the saying goes, "When your dream is so big, it's hard to give up."

Hi Champ Your story is a motivation. It takes a selfless man to speak about their story. Many do not see the struggles but they only see the success. "When your dream is so big it is hard to give up". Words of a Champ. I connect with your story coming from Cameroon. We are proud of you and who we are. Believe in what you do and in your dreams.

I have to say thank you for this very kind and interesting interview! Francis is such a strong and outstanding character! Sorry for your loss dude, hope you find your inner peace and way out of this heartbreaking situation. I also want to talk about the interviewer! You are such a kind person with such an empathy ,allowing yourself to show emotions, that is ispirational for me. I like your style ..... you don't interrupt, you give the other person time to answer and you are well prepared! You do some good job here!
