I want to see Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall, because that is the most important fight in MMA history. Tom Aspinall is probably the biggest star in combat sports right now, if the UFC would just support him, instead of stopping his entire career. But there's no way that Jon Jones beats 42 year old Stipe Miocic. Stipe is like a heavyweight Matt Brown, with even more skill. Stipe doesn't know how to take a step backward. If you don't knock him out cold, he's going to come forward like a terminator, and you won't be able to get away. Jon Jones is not a good MMA striker. He's a good wrestler, with a strong chin. But Stipe is weighing 252 pounds now, solid muscle. Stipe never stopped training.

Stipe was passing his prime in the Ngannou 1 fight and its been a few years since he was KOED in the 2nd Ngannou fight. Not many fighters can take 3 years out the sport, return at 42 and take on the GOAT. Jones is cherrypicking a Legends name for his retirement party, Stipe isn't fit to be fighting Jones and honestly has no right to be fighting for the belt other than legend tax. It would be no different to Khabib coming back and just fighting Belal for the title, he has no right.

@@epsteined3899 He didn't say Francis was ducking Jon. Francis left the promotion and I swear it seemed like the next day Jon Jones is like "I'm ready for my heavyweight debut." Jon was ducking Francis before and now he's ducking Tom. Stipe is now tied with Spivac at #7 in the official UFC HW rankings. I like Stipe but that's being generous. He hasn't fought in 3 and a half years and was knocked out in his last fight. He shouldn't be ranked at all. Getting a title shot is absurd. As for Jones everyone knew Gane sucked on the ground when a crippled Ngannou dominated him on the mat.

@@sabjot602 Doesn't matter what you said, only a fanboy can't see he's not what he used to be. His last three fights as LHW were lacklustre and against Gane he was visibly not in great shape, good for him Gane had a glaring weakness in his game. Jones is still the smartest fighter around but now it's not enough anymore. He got nothing to expose on Aspinall who is also younger and an active fighter. Jones is very smart and aware of his legacy and this is why he will never fight him and most likely retire after the Stipe fight which by the way it's not gonna be an easy one.

Aspinall has a Glaring Weakness too, the Same one as Gane...No Ground Game on his back, No Takedown Defense, No Scrambling for better positions....Easy Fight for Jones. Aspinall's Black Belt clearly came from his Dad. It's really sad that the Heavyweight division has not evolved since its inception... Same old story as it used to be.... Everyone thinks they're a elite level Striker at Heavyweight, Only a couple of guys can Wrestle, and Some guys got some Submissions. Ironicly i think Aspinall is as bad of a matchup for Jones as much as Ngannou is a bad matchup for Aspinall. Aspinall is too complete of a fighter for Jones to be toying around the way he has been in so many of his fighta and he has been tested by former opponents(such as Reyes, Gustafsson) where Aspinall likely would've ended Jones if put in the same situation. However Aspinall really only has one remarkable weakness as far as i can tell and that is getting too comfortable with putting his face out specially considering being a heavyweight and that might end badly vs someone like Ngannou. Respect to all three fighters however they're all amongst the greatest to ever enter the cage and Jones is for now still the GOAT but in my opinion he'll forever have that title questioned if he retires before going up again Aspinall. Just my two cents.

@@jollyjames30 i have no doubts Aspinall could knock out Ngannou aswell, i mean in heavyweight there is always going to be a "punchers chance" but what i'm trying to point out is that he has clearly gotten caught when exchanging punches in his last fights which implies a higher risk for a bad outcome vs someone like Ngannou who arguably has the hardest punch in the division but Tom might very well have the quickest hands in HW and he is obviously a hard puncher himself.

One thing about Francis, if you show him respect, he will give it back 100%. Not many people understand Francis when he says that Stipe is tough. He doesn't just say it because it sounds hard. Francis knows how it is when nobody believes in you, kind of like Stipe's situation and career of perpetually being the underdog, yet proving everyone wrong. They have immense respect for each other because they fought twice and when you fight someone, you get to know who that individual truly is.

Some fights change lives forever. I think Stipe and Daniel Cormier never were the same guys after their trilogy, even their last fight I could notice they were so slow compared to their past performances. To me Francis prime never going to be better than Stipe prime and Jones is only taking advantage of the current situation.

The basic spirit of martial arts is to face opponents stronger than oneself, protect the weak when needed, and show courage and a spirit of challenge. But how is it that he only picks on those smaller and weaker than him? He's less mature than even a child.

@@nickkelly3199 No I get that, It’s just something I can see happening this time around. Jon’s been power lifting a lot recently and one can assume he’s not going in there to wrestle with Stipe. And Stipes chin isn’t the best but who knows maybe all his time off has helped his chin recover. If not a walk off KO then definitely a TKO similar to Jones vs Gustafsson 2.

@RyderGroveSt If you watch the first fight Ngannou cracked stipe with some massive shots in Rd 1&2, yeah he finished him in the 2nd fight but that was after taking a beating for a round and a half. Jones doing powerlifting doesn't give you KO power. KO power is god given any boxing or MMA coach will say the same. You're either born with power or you aren't. Any fighter can land a perfect shot and KO someone but you can't just get flash KO power by training hard. Jones could get a head kick KO but I don't see it happening

@@sohel_naikawadistrongly disagree, Francis has undoubtedly always had the most power out of anyone in the ufc but that’s his whole thing. He’s not a master of timing, BJJ, wrestling, doesn’t have speed etc he just goes into fights knowing one or two clean shots will put his opponent down. I think Tom aspinall would have a great chance against him, and either way it would be a far better fight to watch that Jon vs Stipe

Yeah, but I doubt he can before the Stipe fight. I mean maybe if Stipe pulled out. Jon definitely can't choose to fight Aspinall. I'm not saying he wants to. He definitely wants Stipe since Stipe was always a huge name, but Stipe hasn't fought in 3 years and is getting older. Dana would have to change it, not a chance he does. He will try to make the winner fight Aspinall. That's the logical step.

Yeah but think about it. Jon Jones has only fought for 2 minutes in 4 and a half years. Against a tailor made match up without a ground game. Jon is 37, high mileage and has treated himself poorly over the years. They are both inactive fighters is my primary point.

If Jones wins I'm thinking its by guillotine in a scramble. Thats where Stipe needs to be careful. I could also see Jones replicating the DC vs Miocic 1 KO but with an elbow. Jones 100% is drilling something like that rn. If Jones doesn't do that, though, I think Stipe is gonna break him down over 5 rounds. First rounds will be even, by the end itll be a beatdown. Such a toss up fight because if you ignore the Overeem and DC 1 fights, youd think Stipe whoops Jones, then with Jones, youd think HE whoops Stipe until you see the Reyes fight.
