A good example of an Intellectual conversion...Through intellectual curiosity, as a journalist, he comes to the Mass and simply understand everything from having read the Apocalypse in depth...Amazing story!

I have so much to catch up on learning what is Catholicism all about. One reason why I am still Catholic is because of Protestant converts like Dr. Scott Hahn. We need people like them to really appreciate our own Catholic tradition.

The Bible directs us to invoke those in heaven and ask them to pray with us. Thus in Psalms 103, we pray, "Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, hearkening to the voice of his word! Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers that do his will!" (Ps. 103:20-21). And in Psalms 148 we pray, "Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his host!" (Ps. 148:1-2).

HOW CAN YOU NOT BE CATHOLIC???? THANK YOU JESUS FOR LOVING US SOOO MUCH
@tiberiousss12 жыл бұрын
It's not a 1st commandment violation as Catholics put no saint above or before God. We do not worship saints, we honor them for their holiness on earth. We only ask that they deliver our prayer and to pray with us and for us to God. Mary's mission is to bring people closer to God. Not take the place of God. Who better to ask for help with our prayers than Mary the mother of God and queen of heaven.

Yes he is! So many enemies of our faith. Yet I would say, there are so many enemies because of a non recognition of the Universal Church.

Not only do those in heaven pray with us, they also pray for us. In the book of Revelation, we read: "[An] angel came and stood at the altar [in heaven] with a golden censer; and he was given much incense to mingle with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar before the throne; and the smoke of the incense rose with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel before God" (Rev. 8:3-4).

And those in heaven who offer to God our prayers aren’t just angels, but humans as well. John sees that "the twenty-four elders [the leaders of the people of God in heaven] fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints" (Rev. 5:8). The simple fact is, as this passage shows: The saints in heaven offer to God the prayers of the saints on earth.

2.)To deliver God's word. Protection of scripture as the church has done through history. With and through the guidance of the holy spirit. The holy spirit with the help of the church has protected scripture from corruption. This is done not only by the holy spirit but by the churches tradition as well. 3.)As Catholics must be willing to forgive others or condemn ourselves. 3.) We pray to them not to worship them but to ask for their assistance in prayer. To deliver our prayers for us.

I challenege anyone who is exegectical in their biblical interpretation, to show me BIBLICALLY, not doctrinally, answers to the following questions. (1) If you call Jesus Lord, and you believe He walked this earth, and His life was our example of walking in holiness, why is there no biblical example of sinners going to the apostles for intervention for the forgiveness of sins, or even absolution - yet Catholics doctrinally believe they cannot approach God without a priest, and a confessional?
@Boanerges712 жыл бұрын
(2) What is the purpose of the Vatican, and the Pope exegetically when The Lord Jesus Christ, when asked by Pilate as recorded in John 18, He answers in verse 36 stated His kingdom is not of this earth? (3) Why do you use what is clearly a model for prayer - the Lord's prayer, as a prayer in and of itself? (3) If the Jews of the OT did not pray to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, why do Catholics pray to saints, and biblically no one is instructed to pray to anyone BUT God? 1st commandment violation.
@TheVreillo112 жыл бұрын
Always compare the Old Testament with the New Testament, perhaps you are Christian or Jewish, Catholics do not pray to the saints as gods or had some divine power, we only ask their intercession because they are very close to Jesus, also truths revealed to the Church are answered in John 21, 25, because the truth of the divine life continues to be revealed to the church through the centuries until the end of days because it not end with the Bible,God bless you

So, any prayer which deviates from the Lord's Prayer in unbiblical-typical Protestant contradiction.

1) Jesus makes Peter the rock of the church. Therefore, he is the first pope of the Vatican. I am sure he didn't make your pastor or his father or his grandfather the rock of the church so why are you listening to him week in week out. 2) Just in case in times of emergency and need, there is a handy prayer for you. If you prefer fancy and insincere prayers, sorry you cant find it here.
