She’s funny; she thought he was someone else at first. Someone she didn’t like.😂 It’s sad to hear great singers like them noticed the decline in voice teaching even back then. Doesn’t bode well for the future.

"But why am I antipatico? 🥺😰" Maybe in the original broadcast they talked more about correct technique and the decline in singing, unfortunately I don't have the full conversation, but I would have been interested to know how much Franco agreed with Barbieri's views on good or bad mouth positions etc. He didn't really get to speak here 😅

@@chiaroscuroculture Current target date: April 8 (It's just very difficult because online librettos are so inaccurate I have to type the text from the score, and there are too few photos from the 1956 production, so I have to use photos from 1957, when Del Monaco was Johnson, and 1964, when Guelfi was Rance and lots of variance in the supporting cast too... So I'm forced to cheat here and there and do some head transplants in Photoshop - not between Franco and Mario, of course, the difference in physique is too great between them for that to ever work 😅)

how do you do this with the english subtitles? manually you put each subtitle in EVERY phrase so it takes MANY MANY hours for every to complete this procedure?

Yes, I add each line manually, either in KZbin's own subtitle editor or in a separate software. For short videos like this, it doesn't take much time, but for whole operas or long interviews, it takes several hours, yes.
