Un prodigio. Provoca una reazione di ammirazione sconvolgente. Toccato dalla divinità.

OMG he is incredible he sounds like a female contralto-mezzo, a voice that reminds of Ewa Podles' contralto crossed with Marilyn Horne's mezzo! Omg those high notes are stunning! Jarrousky coloratura crossed with Cencics powerful resonance, I found a new favorite counter-tenor everybody should know! I can't believe I never heard of him until I read about him in prestoclassical.co.uk!

The only countertenor that I can return to time and again. His mastery of style and his superior tonal quality compared to most countertenors resembles the relation of Callas to all other female voices. He is unique in this music and even can be beautiful [though I believe inappropriate] in post-Baroque music.

In 1984 Franco was 3 years old. That cd was recorded on 2003/2004.

@whistlenotelover I too am so pleased with what Franco's voice had developed into.I have a recital (Handel/Mozart) disc of his, recorded in 1984 when he was 23! He had a wonderful instrument then, but it has certainly come on in leaps and bounds now.

My apologies it was a typo,I DID mean 2004! He really would have had to be a wunderkind to sing like that aged just 3! LOL Thanks for pointing this out.

yes I'm well aware of the superlative talent of mr. Hansen, I'm friends with him and we chat on FB sometimes! :-) both unique, and undeniably relevant artists in the castrato repertoire revival movement! :-)

He is simply amazing! I saw him sing Tolomeu in Paris in 2006, he made a much better impression than Andreas Scholl (sorry Scholl's fans), his voice is powerful, while Scholl's, though beatiful and agile, sometimes can be barely heard on stage (same impression this year in the awful Salzburg production of Giulio Cesare).

Fagioli is certainly stunning, isn't he? But I actually think that for both excitement and breathtaking coloratura fluency you can't go past the same aria sung by the young Australian countertenor David Hansen. Check him out on KZbin...

Unfortunately Fagioli's voice is very unbalanced, his timbre is almost gone. Listen to Oberlin on the same aria not to compare but to point out my idea
