Cannon films documentary called electric boogaloo. They interviewed him about he got the role. They had another actor for the film "he's a great fighter, but he cant act" so the manila film Festival was happening and thats when they found franco. They hired him and later on menahem Golan wanted his voice dubbed to sound more American. I highly recommend that you watch the documentary

@@Mayala285 Yeah. I saw that one. I was not a big fan of that documentary. It seemed specifically designed to just completely trash Cannon Films.

What a Star, an absolute Legend and so dignified and modest Here in uk in the 80's because of bbfc ban you couldnt get hold of this movie, I'd only seen the short clip from the scene in jamaican movie "The harder they come" where Jimmy Cliff's in the cinema watching Django with his mates and theyre going apeshit crazy over this Dude pulling a gatling gun out of a coffin and mowing down all these desperados I remember thinking wtf I need to own this movie, when I finally got hold of probably a 10th generation pirated copy on vhs it was Pure Gold and well worth the wait Watched that fucker so many times and lent it out to so many friends it would barely play in the end Censorship Sucks but it sure made you appreciate the Good Shit

@GoreHoundEBM I agree. Personally, I'm not crazy for the epic sweeping Westerns that John Ford and Howard Hawks specialized in back in the 30s to the 50s. I feel movies like "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon", "High Noon", and "The Big Country" lacked the visceral atmosphere and gritty energy of the Spaghettis. Don't get me wrong, I did love "The Searchers" and "My Darling Clementine." But my Western fetish belonged to the Italian made additions that painted the sprawling frontier with crimson red!

Oh, I do love the Wild Bunch. Great movie that showed how ugly, bloody, and violent the West was. It definitely wasn't a wholesome, Hollywood view of the wild frontier like how most of John Wayne's movies were

The Old West is American mythology, so the Europeans brought the "myth" back to the genre. That's why spaghettis are better. They're simply archetypal.
