All of his films were made in English and we cannot perceive Zeffirelli as an Italian director. I saw an interview with Suso Cecchi d'Amico and she said that "Zeffirelli is an international director" That is, I think, the right view. He is more of the world than of Italy.

Suso Cecchi d'Amico said once in an interview that Zeffirelli is not so much an Italian director but international one. The fact that all of his films are made in English (what he mentions here) proves that. He is more of the world than of Italy. Grazie Franco! Thanks for great films!
