His knack for spotting all the important irregularities of speech is second to none, and he really does a great job of tying it all into a stand-up set. Also, his John Madden is so good that I defy anyone to tell it apart from the real thing.

The way he instinctively switches between characters is remarkable. And they really are more characters than impressions the way he's able to embody all the mannerisms and dialogue to go along with it. Supremely talented.

If you look up "knocking it out of the park," this is the definition. I've been watching impressionists for over 40 years, and Caliendo does what many others don't. He gives his voices good material. He does a funny President Bush without touching on any political stuff. But in this bit, it's the linking device of Madden and his illustrator that pulls it all together. Excellent.

I've seen Caliendo live and my buddy and I couldn't stop laughing. Our wives didn't get a lot of his impressions and/or jokes, but my buddy and I got them all. We were in stitches the whole night. He truly is the best impressionist I've ever seen or heard.

A date and I saw Frank's show in a small comedy club in the early 2000s when he was first catching on. It was one of those clubs that don't even have much of a stage, the acts can and sometimes do just wander around among the tables and play off the audience. It was a very entertaining show. After the show as the crowd exited through the club lobby, Frank had a table set up to meet and greet and sell copies of his CD, autograph optional. He came across as very personable and down to earth. As my date and I were leaving a nearby restaurant, we were pulling out of the parking lot and saw Frank standing by himself on the street corner waiting for the light to change, apparently walking back to his hotel. It was hard to not root for him as his career really took off soon thereafter.

Completely agree. Even on his impressions where he comparatively doesn't get the voice down that well (the Norm Macdonald and Jeff Goldblum are ehh...), I still laugh out loud at the context of why he's bringing those people into the routine.
