As a non-American , I am so impressed with the fact that the U.S president not only laughs at his own expense, but he also stands there, next to this remarkable comedian, who delivers non-stop jokes about Bush's "broken" English and other creative phrases. I wish other world leaders follow this tradition, reminding themselves they are only human. One of the greatest traditions of the American democracy (inexistent elsewhere, even though the British have a long tradition of political humor) is these annual mundane reunions where the president is invited to deliver a humorous speech with sometimes self-deprecating remarks, often not devoid of a political message, in a relaxed atmosphere. It is something i truly admire as a non-american. Unfortunately, not all presidents are able to laugh at themselves, it takes a lot of brains and wit to be able to perform this exercise.
