It's so comforting to know that artists with this level of skill still sometimes have trouble with hands

I learned so much about what I’ve been doing wrong in the first 45 seconds. Your all-in-one gesture + construction is about my same approach, and watching you lay down the figure so quickly showed me where I need to rethink my anatomy, and that I need to hurry up when I am at this stage. Great drawing!

Love the juxtaposition of the hard angles of the shawl to her curves. Always inspiring to watch, Frank!

Whew! This was a tricky one to draw! I'm still working on foreshortening with arm positions. But overall, great tutorial man.

The best part of this video was watching him look at his own hands for position reference and to see him erase stuff. Anyone that’s great at anything has a way to center themselves and they know when to scrap what they did and start over again. I don’t care if you’re an athlete or carpenter. You find that element that made whatever you’re doing click for you and you go back to that when things get tough. And then sometimes you have to rip an entire wall down cuz you made a mistake. That’s all okay. It’s all part of the process. The last thing that makes someone great is that insistence on never giving up. Gotta have that too.

AWESOME!!! Best artist drawing best character! I love how even a master artist has to redraw the hand cuz they're freakin' hard to draw- it salves my ego somewhat after watching you draw perfect thigh outlines like you're scribbling.

I use to start heads like you did here. Because I rarely had a strong since of form to work shadows without reference I have been trying the loomis method. It only destroyed my confidence.

Cool drawing! (Pun intended 😅) I was surprised when you erased the face, it looked good, but when you redrew it I realized it looked so much more like the character. Thanks for letting see how you work and letting us learn from it.

Such a lovely drawing. I was shocked when you erased her face. She looked darn good to me, but I understand (all too well!) not being happy with what you're drawing, so you have to go back and try again. (Doing that right now with a few portraits I'm working on.) Adams' hands are amazing. Another artist I love for hands is Alan Davis, who of course, cited Adams as one of his influences.

Comforting to hear the difficulty still exists for such a great artist. I'm curious on how long these drawings actually take to reach this point. Which as we know the next goes to the ink and color if it goes that far. Goals to shoot for
