Frank Gilbert Jr. Memorial Park in Portage, Indiana - Part 1

This 5-acre park site, situated along Willowcreek Road, just south of Central Avenue, is a city plaza-type gathering place commemorating those individuals who have dedicated their lives to serving the Portage Community as Fire Fighters and Police Officers. The beautifully landscaped park features a centrally located ornamental gazebo and plaza area, the Police and Fire Fighter's Memorial at the north end, and the Portage Exchange Club's Freedom Shrine at the south end. The park is divided into small garden plots separated by the wide walking paths traversing the site.

This park is so pretty, and that bench is beautiful! The artwork is stupendous! It reminds me of my twin sister. She could draw and paint like that. My sister Yvonne too was an incredible artist. She used to sell her paintings. She was going to sketch out and paint a picture of my house in Wisconsin once but then got sick and died a couple of years later, so she never did do it. She did send me sketches though that I really need to get framed and hung. I admire people with talent like that. I always wanted to be able to draw but I'm lucky if I could draw a stick figure lol. I really never had any talent. The only thing I could do pretty well years ago was playing my guitar. I loved it. I wish i could still play it. I planned on playing it for the rest of my life, but circumstances messed that up. Anyway, the Freedom Shrine is also so nice to see. I see so much of that where I live now in a military town. A lot of patriotism around here, which there should be. God bless our troops and God bless the exchange club for all they do for our communities everywhere. I love this video with the music playing to block out the traffic noise but yet you can still hear the birds singing a happy tune. And the gazebo at the end with the owl was perfect. It looks like he's doing his job well because I don't see a single creature around him. And finally, I will just say RIP to Frank Gilbert another unsung hero just doing his job ❤💐
