This was an item I was not even aware of. The fine tour guides are truly bringing back history here since its 50 years since USS still owned the property. Thankfully it has been preserved and upgraded for future Generations including the youngerkids. It seems strange that with their HQ in Pittsburgh and the fact they had numerous Mills in that area and specifically the amount of soot and smoke and generated in that area that they didn't have something like this. I have to go back up to Wisconsin Rapids and check if they still have an operation like this called Lake NEPCO that was started by Nekoosa Edwards paper and was for employees and their families to go fishing and camping. The mill has been sold at least four times and one of the two demolished in the past 25 years. They still had original wooden cabins from the 1930s and even some of the construction equipment used to build it as a kids playground. Thanks for taking the time to show us one of the better jewels along Lake Michigan's Shores

What happens sometimes is they get such a good deal on an existing church building from what had been a major denomination it's too good to pass up
@TheSteelCityStorm11 сағат бұрын
It seems like we do run into this a lot as you know by watching the videos. It’s obvious that when these churches are falling apart and no longer to keep open, they just move everything to another building. It’s crazy out there Brother.

So sad! Big wig (corp) names & making cars so locked in so you have to go to dealership. A person cant even work on the motors or certain things. Dealships rule now. We locked out on fixing motors. These motors blah blah! What happened? The computers a joke! We always have our memories working on a car. How easy they able to fix. I 63 going on 64 soon. My first car my dad showed me how to work on cars. It a joke now these cars. Like a home away from home. I trying to figure it out. I car is something to take you to and from. So many accidents, nobody paying attention & no respect. I so miss these old school garages!😢

My grandparents lived on 700 and Pines was a place we went to. When we were really little, we would drive down and sit in the car and watch the skiers. We'd have a thermos of cocoa. When I was old enough I learned how to ski there. They had a small practice hill. I couldn't wait until I could go on the big hill. I rode the ski lift, slid off at the top, moved about 2 ft and fell down. A real hill was definitely a change from the bunny slope. Lots of good memories from there. I also spent many days at Enchanted Forest and even worked there for 2 summers. I only went to Kiddieland a couple of times because we lived in Porter County

As a kid up until I graduated high school I spent just about every day in the winter there… my folks would come at 10 to pick me up. I did my homework there, ate dinner there… by the time I graduated I was one of the ski instructors… I’m still friends with Marc Johnston… we were very close… this makes my happy and sad… life is bittersweet

I really enjoyed reading your memories thank you Scott for taking the time and commenting. I hope you’re enjoying the channel. That has to be crazy knowing you were one of the ski instructors and looking at how it looks now. I believe they are good demolish it before too long.

Did anyone else see the two individual figures towards the end of this video ? -😲😳🤯..running to the left near what looks like an abandoned building ? Both entities have a pinkish tint , can be seen through and appear to have no hair or clothes on them.😧 .👻👻. very strange 😵💫 but considering that some of these buildings could be haunted , it doesn't surprise me in the least .. 🤨😬🙏🍀🌐

Great coverage, as usual, Brother Storm. I'm an amateur ornithologist so your filming of the bird nests at 4:25 was nice to see during this cold winter. Those are Barn Swallow nests. They don't ski as they've gone south for their usual migration. Stay warm. I owe you a hot cocoa with maybe a little 'anti freeze' added to keep your smile going for an extra few hours. Keep staying safe.

I just watched your other video on this place. I'm so glad you filmed this! It would have been cool if you could have also filmed those other places you mentioned, but at least you got what you got. The birds always seem to find the vacant places. They're like Mini Storms, lol. That's an idea. If you need to find more places to film, just watch where the birds go. Great little video. I love it!

Wow!!! So cool that you did this. I lived 2 blocks away on Adams Street. Me and my brothers played there our entire childhood and my Dad coached. Best memories of my life!! Having the World Series there was the coolest shit ever. I graduated from Lew Wallace in 1981. Went to Bailey for Jr High and Pittman Square for elementary!! So sad what it all looks like now. All those schools are gone!

This is pretty cool to see. I have never once been to a ski lodge, so it was interesting to see all the mechanics of it. I never even realized that there were ski lodges in the Midwest. Dang, I wish I knew this sooner. I would have loved to try and ski. I'm sure they must have given lessons here too. If it's for sale, then maybe they will reopen as a ski lodge once again. Who knows! If they do, maybe I'll check it out one winter. I just love this video!

I remember watching this one before and I love how you did this starting out with a page in the book. I also love that structure you filmed, and I hate to see them take it down. As they say though, for everything there is a season. This reminds me of how much I miss the trains. They have no trains that come through my town. I've always loved hearing the trains come through from a distance when I was lying in bed at night. It's one of those little things you take for granted. I do really, really miss it!

It's so cool that you ran into a subscriber. He seems like such a nice fellow too! I was going to ask if this was either a clock shop or a restaurant but then I saw on the front door that it was a restaurant. It looks like it was a pretty nice place at one time. It still looks in really great shape. It's a shame they have to tear a nice building like this down. It's funny to me that they leave all of those decrepit decaying and dangerous buildings up and then they get right on tearing down a nice building like this one. Kind of backwards, I think. Well, the main thing is that good old Storm is out there making memories for everyone so that in a different kind of way it will last forever.
