I jad the great pleasire of working with Jim Henson, Frank Oz and the rest of the muppeters on the original pilot. I was the recording engineer (2" quad tape) I used to go up to the studio during breaks to meet the cast and discuss the next sxenes they were about to do. I was amazed at how real the sets looked in person. The scene with Mt. Rushmore was amazing. Even at 2 feet away it looked so real, eben though it was foam rubber. I thought the name of the show was very odd for puppets. I used to have many of the out takes, but the tape was stolen from me. Jim and Frank were wonderful people and it was awesome to hear Jims ideas. He was a very decent person and like everyone elese says: he is sorely missed. Im case anyone knows, it was recorded in NYC in Studio-5 on the 5th floor.....tape room was on the 2nd floor

Frank Oz is the master!!! Stuart Freeborn created the iconic yoda puppet based on a single concept photo by I believe Mcquarrie and used his own face in mirror as anatomical reference while sculpting. I'm a professional special make-up effects sculptor and technician and used to work in film and tv but now have a wife and 3 kids in my hometown near Boston so I started my own movie prop restoration studio and macguiver-like fx services of all kinds. Mostly work for collectors, haunted house attractions, museums, galleries, etc. living my dream and guys like this were my idols growing up. I'm 34 and have a lot of fun. Anyway, my wife's uncle is Martin Robinson who is also a master puppeteer from Jim Henson who still works on Sesame Street and voices Tele-monster and snufalufagus I believe plus tons of other random characters needed. We live in Mass and he lives in Connecticut and I have only met him a couple times. My wife could tell what a fanboy I am over meeting him and made me promise I wouldn't assault him with questions or ask if he had any old muppets in storage I could have for my sci-fi /horror film prop collection lol.
