Canucks depth is better on D and the bottom six as well. We smashed them 4 times during regular season. It's all down to how we play by actually playing on the front foot active instead of reactive to the opponent. We gave them a lot of respect at times in this series, more than necessary, they are a front runner team, top heavy, they need to drive play, when they have to defend for extended stretches they get exposed. Analytics are important, but I feel like Serevalli has overvalued the oilers stats based on them playing LA and thr Kings being a defensive team, and the canucks sitting back for several games as well.

Seriously over-rating Edm. defense and goaltending. Numbers don't tell the whole story. Also , I believe Canucks have done quite well against Dallas and Colorado so , no , I don't think anybody is going to be feeding anyone's lunch to this Canucks team

Oilers win game 1 with Pickard in net - easy. Would of won game 3 too if Pickard had started assuming Pick would have been able to make a save. If Canucks can indeed play like they did in game 5 EVERY game against Dallas - oh yeah, they have a real chance. They play games like they did in that come from behind win against preds, and those two game I just mentioned against the Oilers they lose and by more than 1 goal. So I guess it depends on whether or not the Canucks can continue their game 5 um game. We'll find out tonight as they will need to play like that again if they want to beat the Oilers tonight

Canucks have been much better against the Oilers AND you were starting your THIRD STRING goalie against the Oilers. You can't blame the pundits from saying what they did. The Canucks haven't played good the whole series accept game 5 and they are up 3-2. Give me the way they played defense against Nashville and the newly sparked offense by Peterson the last game and no one is going to be feeding the Canucks lunch, but they sure as fuck are going to eat your lunch. They still got to get one more victory in this series and it is far from over. They have to find a way to play better than they did in game 5, then it will be over. The way they backed into the playoffs scared me because they were so inconsistent down the stretch and i thought they could have got burned by Nashville, but they proved me wrong and played one hell of a tight defensive game. What i am seeing now is they are putting everything together now and are getting stronger by the game. Should be fun.

Over rating Edmonton probably, but if Oilers had decent goaltending this series would be the other way arpund right now. Doesn't matter if Vancouver wins, because unlike the Oilers the Stars have decent goaltending and shutting down just two guys (the only reason Canucks are up 3 to 2) won't work against the stars, they have 4 lines that can score

Only thing I want to say - and I know I'll get roasted - but I think th Canucks may of played their best game of the year, certainly the best game of the playoffs so far this year. Oilers did not play well, but a lot of that had to do with how the Canucks play - Oilers started well and were clearly the best team in the first 8 to 10 minutes of the game but Canucks took over. Canucks needed a (very well earned mind you) lucky goal in the last 40 seconds of the game to win the game. That's a fact - Oilers will bring it today (Saturday) and I"m very confident we'll win game 6. I also expect another whitewash on Game 7 Monday and Canucks take it. Good luck against Dallas 'Nuck fans, you'll be luck to win a game

This is where the numbers don't quite add up to the eye test. The oilers' defensive numbers are a product of their ability to dominate the puck, not actual defending. We watched it in games 2 and 3, they have opponents dumping and changing lines instead of attacking. Teams that are afraid of the Oil counterattack play cautiously. It's definitely not a bad thing to play that way, but against a team that can withstand the pressure, it will break down and the Oilers actually have to defend.

Mikheyev reminds me of Chubarov,: a guy who skates around the ice fast and nothing happens when he's out there. There are times when you want a fast skating forward to eat minutes and nothing happens when he's out there. Skinner was beaten on a couple of bad goals but overall Canucks have beaten Edmonton’s overall team defence and scored goals that you can’t blame on Skinner. Canucks have to overcome a bad reputation that may take more than one very good season to do so. It’s interesting how Frank can’t get himself to praise Canuck’s defence.

The way Zadorov has played in the playoffs, he's been more valuable than Hronek, but H will get more money because of his offensive production, even though he played with Hughes and his offense basically died in the second half. At this point, especially considering RFA vs UFA and cap constraints, I'd move Hronek for at least what you paid for him, resign Nikita, let DeSmith and Myers go, let Silovs be the back up, try to resign Lindholm and Joshua, and then fill out the rest of the defense like they did last season. Everyone dumped on Lindholm because he didn't score much after the trade, but he's been the unsung hero of the playoffs.
