My Grammy was a lifelong Frank Sinatra fan. She had danced to his music as a teenager, and had all of his records, including many duplicates. She died around Christmas, which had always been her favorite time of year and which I will forever associate with her because around Christmas she always took the family to brunch at the Brown Palace in Denver. The church told us they didn’t allow popular music during memorial services, as my dad had requested to the priest that Frank play, but it seemed like that was not allowed. Then on the day of the service, as people were shuffling into the pews, this song started playing. The priest had found a Frank Sinatra song appropriate for a church and made a CD the night before so Ol’ Blue Eyes could honor my grandmother as she was laid to rest. Everyone was bawling, and it was beautiful.

One of Franks earliest movies was he play the priest of St Michales in Nanticoke PA (about 30 miles from me). Fred MacMurray was the PR guy for a Polish actress who played St Joan of Arc. Lee J Cobb played the producer who would not release the movies as the actress died. Fred as PR did his dangest to get it out. The Miracle of the BELLS, is the name of the movie. I think Amazon, OLDIES and VIDEO VISION has it. Wonderful Movie and you will feel such a great feeling, but seeing Frank so skinny and wearing a ROman Collar will keep you in good heart. RIP to the great men and women and all of the teams who produced such wonderful movies that endure even now Pax7+

(quoted from a Sinatra website) It's on the expanded version of Columbia's Christmas CD, the one with the green cover called "Christmas Songs by Sinatra". The song was not recorded in a studio for release, it's a song he sang for broadcast on the radio for his "The Frank Sinatra Show" on 28 March 1945 with the US Military WAVES Chorus and arranged by Axel Stordahl.

I didn't know either and it's always a thrill to hear him sing anything for the first time. Speaking of time, in '45 he was 30, to answer your question. The voice hadn't yet reached maturity, but right from the start, the "how to part" was full grown. Amazing! This is a prime example of why so many opera coaches recommended their students listen to him for insights into phrasing.

+Richard Zuelch skrrt God is God and Jesus is Jesus, why do you think in the bible God always say "My son" when he's talking about Jesus soooo God and Jesus can't be the same person sorry God created Jesus, which was his first Angel and the only Angel he created by himself that is why Jesus is known to be God's one and only son
@richardzuelch3757 жыл бұрын
In Jesus's case, the Bible uses the word "son" to indicate that He is completely equal with God the Father. The Pharisees understood this, which is why they wanted to stone Jesus - because He claimed equality with God. The Second Person of the Trinity became man in Jesus Christ, who, as God, took on a human body so that He could die a real death on the cross. He is both 100% man and 100% God in one Person. He had to be a genuine man so that His death could be a real death for sins. And He had to be really God in human flesh so that His death would qualify as payment for sins.

Hi Troy, the Ave Maria is a prayer to the Virgin Mother, Mary. In the Roman Catholic community the Virgin Mother is revered as being the mother of our savior Jesus Christ. This song is a prayer known as the Hail Mary, but this is a Latin translation which becomes, Ave Maria. Here it is in Latin, as sung above: Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen. And here is the English translation: Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Good luck and God Bless.

No, he was never breathing by diaphragm, therefore in this song he hadn't enough breath to hold some long notes. It's because he has never learned professional skills of music. Still very nice version, though.

though i do not commend worship of Mary, it is not biblical. i do love this hauntingly beautiful song which has been sung by hundreds of great voices over the years. I became a fan of sinatra at 17, the singer , not the man who abandoned his first wife Nancy who recently passed away at 101 years old. i will never approve of his womanizing life only his fgreat voice from the early 1940's
