Frank certainly did the classic version of this great tune. However, I found his voice a bit short of breath in this version. Still, he's pretty good considering that he's no longer a young fellow.

Frank must have loved the song because he wouldn't bother with it if he didn't. It's hard to believe that it was recorded by Jim Croce about 50 years ago. That's mind boggling to me. Rest in peace Frank and Jim.

@@teronuotio6797 Pretty sure that there is no relation. Bernard Herrmann was a famous score composer for motion pictures (especially those directed by Hitchcock) and was born in Europe. I think Frank's version was horrendous, but I would probably think that about any version other than Jim's. Croce wrote the song for himself and the song is in his own style and cadence. No one ever should have tried to remake it, much less a crooner.
@shaitanlavey
@shaitanlavey 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah in this video Sinatra seems to be struggling. Strange how many commenters are saying how "great" this is. I've been a musician and music lover for nearly 4 decades and this version was actually a hard listen for me. The big issue was, as you mentioned, the cadence. Frank just can't seem to get that timing right.
