On this day in 1965 {September 16th} Frank Sinatra performed "Is It Love" and "September Song" on the premier episode of the NBC-TV musical variety program, 'The Dean Martin Show'... At the time he did not have a record on Billboard's Top 100 chart... But three months later on December 19th, 1965, his "It Was A Very Good Year" entered the Top 100 at position #77, five weeks later it would peak at #28* {for 1 week} and it spent 8 weeks on the Top 100... * One of the great mysteries to me is how in the hell did this song only peaked at #28???, what great lyrics and just a super musical arrangement by Gordon Jenkins, and let's not forget to mention, 'The Voice'...

I've been looking at the roots of hip-hop. It's crazy how each genre combined makes up an intertwined web of genres. It's amazing that all of the artists I listen to derive much of their inspiration from their roots. I'm currently going through a lot of Jazz music and I love Sinatra's music, as well as many others. I feel like I should have been born in a different era just for the music :P haha.

Sadness about this song, makes me think the girls that made for some very good years are all gone and the memory is all that’s left. Memories of perfumed hair and limos but nothing really solid, all fleeting distractions, now he’s got to keep telling himself at the end it was all very good while being alone facing the real truth, it wasn’t really that good, not like it could have been. The interludes with the violins hint at the inner struggle going on.
