Frank incorporates all the experience of postwar duties responsibilities and solutions of his contemporary masters ...from De Stael to Bacon and from Nolte to de Kooning without imitating nothing. He just follow the same path of questioning about form, synthesis and self-sufficiency of a picture through the personal words of sight.Instituting a personal classicism under the determinative enclosed name of abstract expressionism. In an era of great misfortune for Britain and with the worst personal penalty of being an Orphan german Jude. Its a miracle (working constantly)that this man of great vertue became part of modern British culture ,with the best passport of all. Genuinity

Apparently London has been the place to be and live for Mr Auerbach, he found/created milieu there so that one can't imagine him working elsewhere. It had an impact: from Bomberg a teacher to his lifelong friendships, Lucien Freud, Leon Kossoff, Francis Bacon and last not least a wonderful art critic/writer/curator Catherine Lampert. Mr Auerbach in turn had his powerful impact in London. Btw, Vagelis I don't think Nolde had any influence on Mr Auerbach, he was rather dismissive of expressionism, unless you consider Soutine one or de Kooning (but they were not). Besides, I can't agree with you more.
